my LLMD has prescribed celebrex 200mg and amiptriptyline 10mg to protect me from the effects of herxing. I'm just starting Abx. Is this common? Does it really help? Do they work synergistically with abx or do they somewhat impeed their action?
I try to stay away from medication as much as possible, except when they present a clear benefit.

Don't take it with a fluoroquinolone. Hopefully your doctor is smart enough to know that if you are on one. They make the quinolones more toxic to the human body.
Cipro, Levaquin, Avelox, etc.

hummm..personally I am a little afraid of Celebrex, but that's because heart problems run in my family.
I have never taken amiptriptyline but my Mom has, and she never had any problems from it.
Not sure how they work together though.

I take 50mg of amitriptyline (elavil) a day and have had no problems. I started low at 25mg and moved up, have only been on it for a year. It makes me sleepy, so I take it before bed and read a book. I'm not sure if it helps me with herxing, but it does help with my joint pain and mood swings from Lyme. Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amitriptyline) cites the British Formulary as a source for dosing regarding pain/cfs, etc. Those on it for depression are usually on higher doses, such as 100-150mg daily.
I'm sure your doctor could tell you more about it. I know it's an older medication, but I think it works just as well as some of the newer ones. It's also generic, which makes it cheaper at the pharmacy.

NSAIDs in general. Celebrex is an NSAID.
I'm surprised they have the interaction labeled as moderate! The interaction is SEVERE without a doubt!
