Please send me a pm if you can recommend an endo who uses both conventional and alternative methods to deal with thyroid issues, especially thyroid nodules.

Have been informed by my current reputable but conservative endo that my thyroid nodule has grown 60% since my last ultrasound in June 2010.
He refuses to acknowledge lyme as a possible cause of my thyroid issue and is not into any natural therapies.
I will be having a biopsy done in January.

Bloodwork ordered by llmd shows thyroid levels (free t3, t4, rt3 etc.) are in the normal range but iodine level is a little low.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you.

JJ

My endo is from the old school and I need a new one to deal with more issues than my thyroid. I am taking armour thyroid, and he believes keeping the TSH low keeps the nodules from growing. He has been right on that part.

I go to him just to keep an eye to make sure they don't turn cancerous. I've had 2 biopsies, and they were ok.

I also take armour thyroid to keep my nodules from growing. There has been no difference that I can notice for years, way before I got lyme.

Thanks keltyl and nefferdun for sharing your experience.....were your thyroid levels out of the normal range before your endo decided to prescribe armour?

Unfortunately my endo frowns on the use of armour thyroid....especially because he feels my bloodwork is normal.

Anyone else?

Mine were abnormal, but not a whole lot. They tried me on Synthroid first, and it almost killed me.
