It seems that many of us will get these rashes that almost look like pimples (they don't itch) on our chests, necks, arms...

Mine will often appear after I start taking higher doses of fish oil or after higher doses of Vitamin D or magnesium.....I used to think it was some sort of detox but now I have no idea????

Anyone know????

I still get these folliculitis like pointed, mildly reddened bumps which come and go. They do not leave scars and do not seem to get infected. Not sure what is cause for these.

My daughter has had this on her upper arms since she was bitten four years ago. It gets worse in the TX summer heat.

We've seen a few dermatologists, and none of the creams prescribed have worked.

I wish we could find a solution, as she is very self conscious of her arms.

I tried a topical antibiotic cream for them which didn't work....

I NEVER had these before lyme....it's like they are clogged pores that start on my chest, then spread up onto my neck, and then onto the side of my face... Acne treatments don't work for them....

SashaC,you mention the TX heat, yeah, mine sometimes resemble a "heat rash" but I have them even in severe cold.....

Thanks for sharing your stories...

Bugg,
My daughter has had them year round since she contracted LD in 2007. They seem to increase in the summer.

I did not add, they DID go away during here 1 year remission. So they must be related to her TBDs.

We've tried OTC acne meds as well as 5 different topical MD prescribed creams. Still no luck in making them go away.

I just hate that my little girl doesn't want to wear short sleeves arpund her friends. Especially when it's usually so hot down here.

My husband gets this on his chest now and then. Has it right now in fact. Don't have a clue as to how to properly name it. It's so weird- they are all of the sudden there, then after an undetermined time period- a couple to a few weeks perhaps- gone again.

He usually has a longer period (couple of months?) of clear skin b/f they return. I'll have to start dating them to see if there's a specific cyclic pattern there.

Pityrosporum is common in Lyme. Antibiotics often make it worse.

Try a topical antifungal, or systemic oral antifungal like Diflucan.

I have no idea what you guys had but I had something a few months ago for the first time and went to a skin doctor and she said it was this (which in my case it was)... Pityriasis Rosea

I'll let you guys google image it, but be warned there's some nasty stuff. Mine was in no way as bad as those pics. Just on my chest back and shoulders. It doesn't itch or anything, and i had it for while without it going away. Finally when i saw her she gave me some cream which helped it out.

She said they have no clue what causes it but right now they thing it may be from a virus or something along those lines.

BoxerMom,
Thanks! My daughter's rash looks alot like that, luckily her rash is smaller then the more extreme cases shown in the pictures.

I will ask our doc if diflucan may help.

I have had a strange rash all my life that doctors haven't ever been able to explain. They gave me a lotion to put on but it smelled like ammonia so I didn't use it long.

Mine sounds a little different than what you are describing though. It is tiny pinhead "pimples" that are kind of dry. They are mostly on my arms and cheeks and some on my thighs and a tiny bit on my stomache. But mine get better with sun exposure. Right now they are the worst they have ever been and I don't understand why....maybe the abx have something to do with it.

I would love to know more about this!

Boxermom-Thank you so much for your help...I think you're onto something...I went to google images and they look very similar to the rash I've experienced...

Incidentally, I was reading about this and apparently people who use long-term abx for acne can develop this as well...Some were saying anecdotally that Nizoral shampoo you can buy at a drugstore applied topically was making the rashes go away....they would just apply it to the skin and let it sit for about 5 mintues....makes sense because Nizoral contains an antifungal......

Thanks again, Boxermom...
