New here. Just just diagnosed with lyme disease last week after 2 months of symptoms. I have chest pain they say it's not my heart(EKG's stress test, scan , x ray a heart monitor for a month) Is chest pain a part of lyme? Does any one else get chest pain? [Smile]

Hi mainelycute ,

Yes...a lot of people with lyme get chest pain , palpitations etc...I

have had it off and on with varying severity for 2 years now...

at first I was scared I was having a heart attack it was so bad one

night...since you have had your heart checked and no reasons

for the pain has emerged , then I would hazard a guess it is lyme

related..."heart block" is a condition associated with lyme...

I don't know enough about it to tell you anything more @ this

point...but enter it in the search box above and you will be

taken to discussions on it that may help you...

hopefully , someone else here with more knowledge will also

respond to your question...good luck !

YES! This is an almost constant symptom for me. Does it hurt to touch the cartilage in your sternum or ribcage? If so, it might be costochondritis, which is what I have. I use heat to try to lessen the inflammation.

I'm glad that you have had such an extensive cardiac work up!

Best to you,
MA

I used to wake up in the middle of the night with chest pain. Just GERD, but that was from the lyme. It goes away with treatment.

Seconding costochondritis. It's good that you had the workup.

Warm baths and light stretching helps, as does rebounding (using a mini trampoline). An anti-inflammatory such as Zyflamend (herbal, non presription), might help.

One of my first symptoms was pleurisy. i was rushed to the ER with it. Ever since I've had a dull sometimes sharp pain in my chest...deep in the lung area toward my back. the only way to describe it. I think it's due to inflammation.

Yep. I've been to the ER a few times with this and my heart always checks out OK. It's definitely a lyme thing.

Lyme can at times cause serious heart issues (like heart block) but sometimes it will just cause chest wall inflammation...

Good luck.

About 11 years ago, I used to get chest pains & pain in my back by my lungs(mostly left side). My ribs always felt sore as well. I was getting short of breath and had trouble digesting food. I thought I was going crazy and making it all up. Went to the emergency room a couple times. My heart always checked out fine(even followed up with a cardiologist for an echocardiogram). My chest X-ray was fine the 1st time, but the 2nd time(middle of summer), they said there were patchy infiltrates on my left lung. They seemed unsure of it, but called it a touch of pneumonia and prescribed zithromax. They had me follow up with a pulmonolgist and all tests came back ok. An LLMD told me it was a symptom of a lyme co-infection. I had about 6 months of Zithro/Flagyl. I never remember herxing or having any bad side effects to the drugs, but I haven`t had any breathing problems or chest pains in 10 years. Still live with lyme symptoms and have not been treated for it over the past 10 years. Its unaffordable to treat aggressively and i`m still not convinced its lyme, although just about everything was ruled out 10 years ago.
