Your cortisol levels are highest in the morning...at least they are supposed to be. They do the test to see if you have problems with your adrenals or your pituitary. Unless you fall within either extreme though....really low or really high....a single sample isn't going to tell you much.

A better reflection of adrenal status, tough endocrinologists don't think so, is a saliva test, where you put a test wad of cotton between your lip and gum at 8 am, noon, 4pm and 8 pm and then each cotton wad is tested for salivary cortisol. It maps out a days cycle of cortisol production which should show increase from am to noon and then a gradual decrease in the evening. A single blood cortisol level in the am will likely reveal nothing, though if it is markedly abnormal, ie: way too high or way too low, it will prompt further investigation. An AM blood cortisol level should be done with an ACTH level at the same time, to see if cortisol level is consistent with level of adrenal stimulation.

Sounded like cortisone though I could be wrong...will double check thank you! I just feel as if all the docs I have seen over the last few years just throw test after test at me and get no where...frustrating...

I just had this saliva test done. It is pretty simple. I didn't realize it was the most reliable-

Got the test done as well as an x-ray for ribs (?) on cervical spine. No idea what this means but hope to have the results back soon. Thank you all for your help and support!

Just a blood sample so not expecting anything huge. Going through the motions until I can see LLMD in a month or so if I am lucky. Trying like mad to hide the pain and shaking from my family but it is getting harder to do. I seriously doubt I am fooling my wife but I try so she does not worry so much. Eh, listen to me whine lol...will see what the doc says in a day or so...hope you all are doing well today!

Hang in there. I hid most of my symptoms too .. even after finding an LLMD and being treated. Not sure it's the best plan though!!

How surprising...ever single bloody test came back normal. Getting right bloody tired of this....Lyme doc in a month, possibly two on the outside. Hopefully that will get things headed in the right direction...

Regular doc is concerned with the turn my symptoms have taken and wants to see me tomorrow. Only time will tell if it will be possible to open her eyes to what is going on in relation to this disease. Wish me luck!
