Although I am feeling much better lyme wise and think I am getting close to remission, I keep getting sore throats every few weeks. Does anyone know what this could be?

I hope its not a lyme symptom, but possibly my immune system going through some kind of change. Hopefully a positive one.

It sort of feels almost like when you are going to get strep, but it never gets to that level. I don't run a fever, but feel slightly ill and tired.

Ideas please!

For me this was always part of a bartonella flare or herx.

Wow, 17hens, that is very interesting. I feel like I am dealing with bart at this point, since one of my remaining symptoms is sore heels. HMMM!

this is my Daughters complaint....

Every few weeks a sore throat. Even though on Abx I still take her to our Pediatrician for a strep test.

and Neg each time. Just came back today with NEG strep test.

This has to be lyme related...I just use our local pediatrician for the strep test...That's all their good for anyway.

Igenex results were NEG for all Co infections...but I suspect she has Baronella

Okay now I have to wonder......and I hate to wonder; but I wonder if Doxycyline will treat Bartonella.

I have been on it for a year and a half and gradually I have been getting better. It has even gotten rid of the shin pain, which is common with Bart.

My heels still hurt, but they are better than they were a few months ago. So it looks like the Doxy could be working on Bart.

I don't go back to my LLMD until July. I guess I will see how it goes between now and then; and
we can discuss it at my appt.

I think babesia can cause a sore throat too. I know I lost my voice from it. Sounded like a frog.

Have you been tested for Strep in the blood? When my strep flares, I have this symptom. It can be treated with medicine that overlaps Lyme.

Haley, I actually had systemic strep when I first went to my LLMD. He treated it with zith. As far as I know the systemic strep is gone. Don't know if that causes a sore throat or not.

I have had a few bouts of strep throat, but this sore throat doesn't feel like strep. Its just annoying and makes me feel a little tired.

I am going to start tracking it. Something I have not been good at the whole 3 years I have been in treatment.

Interesting. I am treating Babesia now. A few months back I lost my voice for a few days. The other day my throat was mildly sore just for one day.
Maybe it is related.

Same thing with our daughter. I feel it is related to Bartonella.

I get soar throats every month at least. They aren't the kind that hurt so much when you swallow but more with deep breaths and pain around the glands and thyroid area.

For the short period I had the PICC line in (only a week, just pulled due to a clot)this symptom got extremly worse.
Wasn't sure if it was a herx or a side effect, but it was definitely intensified.
