Now that tick season is here, I'm really worried about getting bitten. Has anyone had success taking preventative herbs? Has anyone been successful treating themselves with herbs after a tick bite? Should I just take Cats Claw all summer and into the Fall? And what about Salt/C. If you take Salt/C all summer, will that negate any tick bites that you get?

I listened to a natropath speaker once about Lyme. He said that everyone who lived in endemic areas such be consuming japenese knotweed everyday, even if you dont have lyme He also mentioned some other things but I can't remember what they were.

I would just be ready with a dr who will prescribe doxy if you need it.

Anyone heard of these things I have come across in research?

1. If you take B1 you repel ticks.

2. Ledum is a good thing to have on hand for after a bite.

momlyme - my adult son had a tick bite a couple of years ago. Took him to an osteopath who had him take ledum right away.

I keep the container taped right next to the tick removal device!

Haven't heard anything about B1.

I was curious about the ledum and found this.

What is ledum? where do you get it and what is the dosage? I found the article by the homeopathic vet on ledum interesting.

A couple of doctors who wrote Lyme books suggest taking astragalus on a daily basis for those who live in endemic areas. It raises the CD57 count and reduces risk of getting infected.

I've heard of using the B1 for mosquitoes. May help.

I've taken ledum .. felt nothing.

If you already have Lyme, there is some debate as to whether taking astragalus is a good thing:

Buhner recommends knotweed.
