Does anyone get this?

The feeling of a "head rush" upon standing? Like you are going to faint, and sometimes see those little stars out of the peripherial (sp?) vision? Feel dizzy, and sometimes have to sit back down? Like your world is just melting away for a few minutes and you don't know if you will faint or be able to keep going?

Hard to describe, but I know this as a "head rush." lol I know this can happen to healthy people, too, from standing up too quickly, etc.

Today, when I experienced it, my hands and arms also felt tingly, like electrical shocks going through them.

I get this all the time now, but I notice it is worse in the mornings.

Does this happen to you?

This is something that has only happened recently to me. Sometimes when I stand up I have to like crouch down and close my eyes until it goes away. From my understanding, this is due to a drop in blood pressure. I didn't think it could be b/c of that though since all along, despite being young, my bp tended to be on the high side. BUT recently it's just the opposite -- my blood pressure is low and my hr is much slower (now normal in the 70s) than ever. I'm not at all sure why this sudden change occurred, but definitely the standing up thing and seeing stars is low bp. Maybe this is happening more frequently to us because we are ill? Not sure..

I have had this happen several times too, but I definitely do not have low blood pressure. Mine is on the high side.

I do have "naturally low" blood pressure, but lately it has been even lower. Doctors seem unconcerned.

I also get cold VERY easily. I mean to the point where it can be a chilly, damp day, and I will not be able to feel my finger tips. Just like they would feel if the temps were way below zero. I have been getting more easily cold for a few years now, but seems to be getting worse, as so many other "strange" symptoms are.

I figured this would have something to do with BP or even oxygen levels for those who do NOT have low BP? Would adrenals being off do this, too?

I just know it is not a good feeling. I am afraid one of these times I will pass right out.

I also have this. Just talked to my Dr this week. He had me purchase a B/P machine, to monitor at home.

My B/P is normally on the lower side. But upon positional changes I have racing heart, and almost blacking out moments.

Thoughts are that my B/P is going even lower, therefore pulse is increasing.

I don't know how to copy links to here.

There are previous discussions on here about POTS, or positional hypotention... and other similar type things.

It's common with Lyme. It could be a condition... or maybe just the die off??? more detox needed???

It is something to research for yourself... I am just begining to look at it myself.

And, as I am recording my B/P, I am noticing that my B/P does lower upon standing (avg 95/55 pulse in the low 100's so far... only been testing for a day) but when sitting, and not having issues I'm around 110/70 pulse 60.

I see Dr. again next week, so will discuss where to go from there. At some point I'm assuming I will see a cardiologist to do a tilt table test.

Good Luck

Adrenal hormones are needed for the blood pressure to change when one goes from sitting to standing so that blood doesn't pool in the feet and deprive the brain of oxygen. When things aren't working correctly, the brain doesn't have enough blood flow or oxygen, and thus the sensation of fainting or like you're going to black out.

I used to get this all time when I was a teenager, but it hasn't been as bad since then.

So I think it is good to get the adrenal hormones checked, just to make sure that isn't a contributing factor...

I experience this too. I was diagnosed with autonomic dysfunction, also known as dysautonomia. If you research dysautonomia and lyme disease, you will find a great deal of information.
I also suffer from small fiber neuropathy which causes dysautonomia, lyme can be the cause of these problems.

Hope you get to the bottom of your symptoms!!

libi824... thats what I am thinking that I am dealing with. I just couldnt think of the name when I originally posted.

I had my cortisol level checked before I started treating Lyme, and it was ok.

Would be interesting to see if it is still ok, now that I am treating lyme and my body is so far out of whack.

I've had that head rush + tingling + seeing stars + electrical shock thing too. It was one of my early symptoms and was one of the first ones to disappear after starting ABX.

In my case this was not related to blood pressure being off. Simply a nasty/scary Lyme symptom.

yea I used to get this ALL the time not just on standing sometimes just sitting there watching TV. I have had my adrenals checked and they where fine as is my BP, so a little strange.

Now after 4 months on ABX I will say its gotten better, still get it sometimes seems like soon after taking my ABX ( possible reaction ? ) and sometimes on standing, especially if I was crouched for quite awhile. BUt not so much of the random fainty feeling, crossing my fingers it stays like that !

I feel like that most of the time, standing sitting doesnt matter. Usually my ears start ringing worse and my eyesight starts blurring. sitting standing or whatever, i have slightly high bp, which just started about 2 years ago, I always had comments about how low it was.

Oh yeah the house is around 70 degrees and i am freezing most of the time. i wear a coat and have a blanket on me when i sit on the couch. and its seems to be tied together with the headrush

I had a lot of those back in the 70's, but a different kind.

Then they came back when I was taking ABX, just a whoosh........all of a sudden from nowhere. Weird.
