hi guys,

I'm on Gemifloxacin and Tinidazole and Minocycline. I took Minocycline for 1,5 years now and want to exchange it with another ABX. I focus on Lymecycline but thats not available in Germany and will take me a month or more to get it. So while I try to get Lymecyclin, I want another agent than minocycline. I was wondering if anyone has used Gemifloxacin (Faktive/Gemez) together with a makrolide like Clarithromycin (Biaxin) oder Telithromycin (Ketek). Dont want to add azithromycin or Doxycycline because i already took them both for 6 month and I think they re the worst oral choices you can make!

You shouldn't take a Macrolide and a Floroquinolone together because they can impact the QT interval for your heart.

In a recent lecture, Dr. Burrascano said "You cannot combine a macrolide with a Floroquinolone."

Why not try high dose Amoxy or Ceftin or Omnicef?

thx 4 the good info

would try omnicef is the same issue in Germany with Lymecycline, my doc is ordering it from abroad, but it will take a while...

ceftin, isnt it only good in early lyme?

what is LDN?

Ceftin is good in all stages of lyme. Dr Burrascano took that med for over 2 years to treat his own Lyme disease. Please see his treatment guide.

okay i looked in his last guide of 2008. the only thing he says about ceftin is this:

Cefuroxime axetil (Ceftin), a second generation agent, is also effective against staph and
thus is useful in treating atypical erythema migrans that may represent a mixed infection that contains some of
the more common skin pathogens in addition to Bb. Because this agents G.I. side effects and high cost, it is
not often used as first line drug.

so where do you have your statement from, im very interested!!

furthermore he calls cefuroxime it an alternative, okay. but that doesnt point out for which stage [Frown]
