Okay. So about 8 months ago, I persuaded my sister to get my niece tested for lyme. This was not done through Igenex as my sister didn't have the money but I figured a test was better than no test.

My niece had been having symptoms of lyme....fatigue, migrating joint and muscle pains, frequent sore throats and throat infections (so much so they even removed her tonsils and adenoids), mood swings, personality changes and episodes of uncontrollable rage.

She was diagnosed with mono at one point too.

We've all been in the same places together....camping hiking, to my in laws cabin in the mountains so it wasn't far fetched that I thought she may have lyme.

Well, her test didn't come back positive. Big surprise. But she did have some lyme specific bands come back reactive. Band 23 and one other but I forget.

I had tried to explain lyme and how inaccurate these tests were to my sister but she didn't want to listen and she told me I was nuts.

Fast forward to now. My niece is getting worse and having more symptoms. My sister looked into lyme a bit more and now we are thinking she has lyme and bart.

My sister does not have the money to see an LLMD and I am paying for both my son and I to be treated and cannot afford to pay for my niece as well. Not yet anyway but I'm working on trying to figure that out.

Anyway, my niece is staying with me this summer to help out with the new baby. She is 16 and even though her symptoms have progressed she is still very functional and has more good days than bad.

I wanted to start doing some things with her on our own until we can afford a doc. So far we've started working on changing her diet and giving her probiotics daily. I have her drinking kefir and she helped make some cultured veggies to try and work on healing her gut.

I'm at a loss as to what else to do though. I do have some a bart and thought about trying that with her but not sure.

Any suggestions on things we can do?

How about Salt/C? It's very cheap, and many people have reported good results on this protocol. I cannot say for myself, as I just bought the supplies, but, it's worth looking into.

Any herbal treatment would be a start...cowden, buruhner type kiling protocols. At the least they will help to support her organs and bring down whatever bacterial and viral loads she might have.

Maybe even just having her take things like oregano oil, garlic, olive leaf, grapefruit seed extract, etc. (start everything slow, some people really react)

Diet is a good start and so is fermented food...but not going to have the type of impact that a more focused treatment-- natural or otherwise might have.

I myself has just started down this road and had read that apple cidar vinigar baths help to detox. I have been taking them, not sure if it's working, but it does sooth my skin.
It's cheap and the smell does wear off. About a cup in a bath and soak for at least 30 mins.

Thanks all. I have some A bart and was thinking of seeing how she reacts to that.

My neighbor actually mentioned Salt/C to me and even gave me a copy of some book he had in PDF although I haven't read it yet. I'd have to read up on that thoroughly before trying it.

I am just having such a hard time trying to figure out the best way to approach. Probably because it isn't my kid and I'm nervous!
