Does anyone in the south test positive for Babesia Ducani?
I was tested for Babesia microti which came back negative and toxoplasmosis which also came back negative. I didn't even bother to ask for the Ducani test.
I guess if symptoms persist I will call back and ask for that test. I just think some of my symptoms are menopause.
Here are my symptoms. I have sore collar bones first thing in the morning and my neck hurts, also mild headaches. I also feel like I'm coming down with a sore throat all the time and occasionally have sore glands. I suffer with anxiety and depression even though I am taking Celexa and Xanax for this. I think the mood thing could be menopause though, and also the sweating......very menopausal. I also have pain in my ears off and on and eye redness. Oh yes, I also suffer with asthma, which I had even before LD. I have a dry cough, I think related to asthma. I have an inhaler, but rarely use it.
For the most part I don't really feel bad; or else I felt bad for so long that I just think I feel okay. My fatigue level is not too bad. I walk a mile to a mile and a quarter every day.
I am just frustrated because I treated Lyme for so long and got so much better. Been off antibiotics for 8 months now. So is this tickborne or just menopause?
Sorry, I know you guys are sick of hearing all of this. I'm just trying to figure it all out. Don't want it to be tick related. Menopause has so many similar symptoms. Oh, and I can't take hormones because I had a DVT while on them.

B.duncani is all over the US. It just took a while for the docs/scarce researchers to figure that out.
As you know, you can have it and test negative.
Good luck with your remaining symptoms. Try to stay positive. You've come so far.

My guess would also be babesia. Hubby did have high antibody titers to babesia duncani but never to babesia microti. We live in Virginia near the North Carolina border. No one thought to test him for babesia duncani for the first 10 years he was sick.
If you do get tested for babesia duncani my suggestion would be to do some sort of challenge testing (take high dose babs meds for up to 1 week) and to also test ECP at the same time. A search on LymeNet should bring up the info on ECP (eosinophil cationic protein).

We will see what my doc decides. Sometimes he will take suggestions and sometimes he does it his way.
Is feeling like your being choked a symptom of Babesia?

There are several throat symptoms. Sore throat, difficulty swallowing, and phlegm (or a feeling of phlegm) in the throat are common.
So is the feeling of not getting enough air, but that doesn't sound like what you're describing.

I do feel like I don't get enough air at times, but I also have asthma, so its hard to tell. I definetly have the throat issues.

I have a positive FISH test for Babesia Duncani as well as a positive PCR (both IGeneX). I live in Germany - but used to live in the US for four years (mostly on the East Coast but also a few months on the West Coast).
I do think I got infected in Germany, though. I had several tick bites here, and the one that put me over the edge (back in 2010) was a German tick. (Please note that "they", i.e. the powers that be, claim that we don't have Babs Duncani in Germany; Europe's predominant strain is supposedly B. divergens ...).
So, my theory is that Babs Duncani is everywhere.
I am familiar with some of your symptoms: air hunger, neck hurts on waking up, mild headaches, sore throat, hot flashes, red/dry eyes, cough, some sweating, and lately phleghm/raspy voice ... I don't think your symptoms are menopause. I'd treat Babesia - aggressively.
