I had to cancel my appointment with Lyme doctor a while back due to an emergency tooth problem. My symptoms were feeling of choking, scratchy throat, etc. I won't list everything.
Anyway I took amoxicillin for a week and had a tooth extracted. During that week my symptoms went away and stayed away for 2 weeks after and then returned.
Doesn't that seem like there is some kind of infection? But what kind? Any ideas? I guess I need to make another appointment.

Sounds like Lyme to me, but then I'm no expert.
Some of the European strains of Borrelia, which won't show on our standard tests here, respond very well to the "cillin" antibiotics. Americans can, in spite of what the IDSA claims, get those strains here.
As you may have noted bicillin (injections), penicillin, amoxicillin, etc can help Lyme patients in a good way. Dr. B originally reported in HIS patients the "cillins" aren't as effective as other antimicrobials, but many LLMD's are using them with success.
Another thought, you could have had strep or another infection that the amoxy helped. No telling for sure at this point, just tossing out ideas to consider.

I was thinking something other than Lyme. Maybe a chronic, persistent form of strep or something else.
This has been an issue for me off and on since getting Lyme seven years ago. Most of my Lyme systems are gone except a few.......feeling like I'm choking is the most annoying. My throat feels scratchy but not sore. Sometimes my ears hurt, and my eyes burn and get red. Sometimes my collar bones hurt, mostly in the morning. Over all I don't really feel that bad. But something is just not right.
I'm calling Monday for an appointment. My hubby wants one too. He kind of thinks he might have LD.

make sure you check out Protomyxozoa rheumatica just to be on the safe side...i see some throat and eye involment.

I just read about it. I realize now that's the Fry bug. I do have some of those symptoms. Sucks though, seems hard to cure.
Yes mycoplasma could be. Just seems like as long as I took Doxy it would have gotten rid of it.
Whatever I have, it improved with Amoxicillin.

i don't really know much about ...just hit my radar recently. but the dry cough is part of the mix also....
that said i could say that i think you would sicker if you had this ...if it responds to Doxy its a good chance its not the Fry Bug...i hope not...but wnated to put it on your radar.

The reason I'm leaning toward some type of systemic strep, is because I tested positive for that at my first appointment 7 years ago. I also read that strep responds to Amoxicillin. Just don't understand why it would still be hanging around.

My neighbor who let his Lyme go for 8 months without treatment was treated with only amoxicillin.
He had the classic bulls-eye, then he got joint pain and finally heart palpitations, that's when he went to see the doc (tested CDC positive for Lyme).
He has a VERY strong immune system (according to him).
It's been a few years and still no Lyme relapse, so amoxicillin worked for whatever was going on with him.
If you felt better on it, who knows what it was treating, but a doc should treat the patient, not the test results (you may or may not ever find out).
