My llmd wants me to use testosterone cream on my wrists.
I am ok with it I think, but not 100%
my bloodwork came back on the low side. he says I will feel so much better with it.

I've read that DHEA is better to use because your body then converts as much as it needs into testosterone.
My llmd had me on testosterone cream and initially I had more energy.
I don't remember how long I was on it when I noticed I was getting bristly black hair in places on my body so I quit.
It did go away when I quit the t.

If you tested low, maybe you won't get hair growth.
I wasn't tested so maybe it was too much.

DHEA does not always convert to testo. Depends on the individual's chemistry. DHEA supplementation may help low testo but is almost never enough.

Depending how low it is, DHEA won't help increase your levels. If you are using a prescription bio-identical cream, I don't think you need to be concerned.
I have used testosterone cream applied internally, not topically, since 2004 with good results. I have never grown hair or had any issues and, of course, you need to have your blood levels checked on a regular basis.
Only recently, my levels became elevated and I'm pretty sure it's because I tried a new doctor and he put me on 20mg of pregnenolone for my adrenals not paying attention to the fact that I was using testosterone cream. Pregnenolone converts to androgens.
I had to stop using the testosterone cream for the time being until my levels go down within the next few weeks.

I have found great help in taking testosterone. It helps me with energy and depression. I think it also helps my muscles.
The ovaries make testosterone and I have no ovaries. Everyone needs the T!

I could not convert DHEA to testosterone.
Bio Identical testosterone cream works. I put mine on the inside of my thighs after showering.

my test showed my level to be 22 within a range of normal = 2-45. Dr said that is too low, but it is in normal range. I guess I should have said this at first in this thread.
Does this change anyone's answer?

Most good doctors shoot for the middle of the lab range. Just because you are in the range doesn't mean you levels are right for you.

faithful, that is what he said. I am going to a homeopathic dr tomorrow- found one about an hour away! yay! and cheap- $60!!! and he is a LL Dr. who treats mostly lymies!!!!!!
I will get opinion there from him on all thus far and hopefully feel better about my questions. I have used homeopathy for years and they have always helped me and my family.

In my opinion, I think testosterone cream on your wrists is a terrible idea.
How many people do you come in contact with that may touch your wrist, even accidentally?
Do you have children or grandchildren that you pick up and hold? If so, they will be exposed to Testosterone which would be a giant mistake.
I have researched low testosterone and supplements for this issue as I have this diagnosis also.
At first, I started with the cream that is applied to your underarms. The directions are very scary about accidentally exposing a spouse or child to this medication.
For this reason, I changed to the IM shots. I am not taking any chances with my grandchild.

I agree but there's a much easier way than IM shots for woman. You can apply the prescription cream vaginally with an applicator. If your doctor writes up the script to be applied in that way, they send the applicator along with the cream. I think the results are better, too.

map, for your problem they prescribe vaginal estrogen pills. They are called Vagifem. They come with an applicator.
Putting creams in the vagina is very messy. It melts and runs out all over. The Vagifem pill is great. It worked great for me. It restores the vagina to normal. Then, you just take a maintenance dose. Expect it to take a number of months to restore those tissues. Since it is a local application of estrogen, you don't have the dangers that go with taking estrogen orally.
Regarding testosterone cream, when I had lyme and it messed with my hormones, I was told by a gyn to put it on my inner thighs. I developed hirsuitism which is extremely long, thick, dark hair in that area. I looked like a gorilla!
A friend put it on the inside of her wrists and she never developed any hair there. (She didn't have lyme.)
Plus, it sent my testosterone sky high and didn't help me at all.

Trying to get normal hormone levels restored since my pituitary quit. Menopause does not = 0. I have a combipatch which has not worked. I asked for something else since I feel like an it. I was told day before yesterday that they only prescribe testosterone for those in relationships. I said, I need something for desire.... This has been a big bull **** experience. I am not normal and a little extra hormones for hotflashes, which I do not have, is not going to help. I've tried it. Been there done that. Good luck getting replacement hormones if you don't have a penis.

I have never had a problem getting them but it's mostly ACAM doctors that will prescribe bio-identical hormone replacement and some LLMD's do to.
Mainstream doctors will not, unless you have an extreme deficiency. In that case they will give you dangerous synthetic medications.
