Is LymeMD a good doctor? I'm thinking about going, it just surprised me that they said I could basically come today if I wanted. No wait time just made me leery.
I put this here since I'm not really looking for a doctor, just asking thoughts about this particular situation. Hope this is an OK place to ask.

- As you are not looking to see such doctor, I wonder why you ask until you wonder if their writings can be trusted for your personal research -- or maybe for others you know who might consider seeing them.
In either case, if you wonder if the information at this site is accurate and can be trusted, yes, indeed. Just do not confuse this with the other doctor who also uses that name.
So you all would say he's excellent? That's what I thought but wanted to be sure.
I am thinking about seeing him, sorry for not being clear. I just meant I'm not asking for doctor suggestions (I've already been given some great suggestions by you all!), just double-checking info on this particular doctor.
I think I'd love to go see him.

- For any doctor you consider, be sure to ask all the area lyme support groups within wide circle to that doctor's location.
Even if you know one to be excellent, to be sure they would be a good fit for you, it's just really important to talk to those who have personal experience so you can gather a broader sample.
You need to talk to some folks in person to get a fuller idea if this would be a good fit for you. Talk to the leaders of the various lyme support groups within, say, a 200 mile radius of his office.
Read all you can from his blog.
Then, for some doctors, they may be able to schedule a very short phone information interview of sorts where a couple basic questions could be asked -- but no specifics to your case would be allowed due to the rules that doctor have to follow for those who are not their patients, etc.
Not sure if this doctor could do that but it's worth finding out.
You need much more information than just a few posts here for any doctor who decide to go see. You want the best fit possible.
Make no assumptions. Consider all your choices. Realize that this is one of the most important decisions of your life.
Indeed, I've certainly been impressed with his blog postings for many years. Still, that's just a starting point. It may be that his mind and methods will be a good fit. Just talk to some real people who have been there first.
Of course, each person has their own perspective (or assumptions / expectations) and unique case yet, with a collection of experiences, you can better get a sense for the questions to ask as you move to the next step. -

Thanks, Keebler. You are so right about all of that, this will be one of the most important decisions of my life. Praying for guidance to make the right one. Talking to local support groups is a great idea.

Office managers can be very helpful - or there may be someone else on staff to answer such inquiries. -

I am a patient of his (Dr. J).
He tested for and determined that my wife also had Lyme Disease even though my wife was very convinced she did not have it.
I am doing very well with his continual treatment (I told him I will be one of his 'cure' cases ...) I am overcoming Lyme Disease, Babesia and Bartonella.
Don't be afraid just because Dr. J has openings (for me that was a blessing because I was in pretty bad shape when I first saw him - 10 months ago).
You need to be very proactive in how you attack/treat Lyme/Co-infections - need more than just what one doctor can provide (so read lots of books, talk to others, etc.)
Medicine/herbal supplements, diet, sleep, exercise, sleep, alternative treatments, reducing stress/environmental factors -> healing your gut/strengthing your immune system all play a role in overcoming Lyme Disease ....

Xemoterp1, thanks for replying. Glad you are getting better! I'm really unwell myself (can't even fix my own food). It's like some strange scary dream that's not really happening.
I also suspect my wife may have Lyme, but she's functioning completely fine (but tired) so we aren't gonna investigate that yet.

I have TF and hopingandpraying to thank originally for giving me it the information I needed and providing me with some positive testimonials on Dr. J. and a little push to take action.
Yes - brain fog, feeling sick, etc., been there. I have met several people at work that are in your situation right now. It is amazing how the human body can continue to function, but at the expense of much struggle and hardship.
If financial resources permit, it may be good to have your wife (sicksam's) checked out and treatment started if she has Lyme Disease ... Trust me - two people with Lyme Disease (like my wife and I) react much worse to stress. Once my wife started treatment, both our stress levels went down dramatically.

I wish we could get her checked out too, but we just can't right now. Her full-time job is to take care of me (unfortunately) and our two boys. Also financially it just isn't possible, and she doesn't want to be checked now either. It's been almost a year since I've been able to work.
