My new PCP gave me doxy for lyme--I think as a science experiment for her.She's not convinced of chronic lyme.
Been on it 3 weeks and started getting little rashes I haven't had in years.
I thought these were due to lyme spirochetes being killed and the bart then able to come forward, but read this on facebook where it says doxy is effective for bart though not the best.

I suggested mino to her.
But what I'm wondering is why the rash comes out now when bart must have been there for years.
Is it like the rash is its last hurrah?

I wonder that too. I got so many issues with EM rashes coming and going, then bart rashes, then babesiosis symptoms, like an eternal dance.
I guess that, in my case, when I hit well one pathogen, another just comes up.
Or sometimes, when I hit well borrelia with herbals or whatever good treatment, it will try to still survive through making EM rashes (as on my skin, it is harder to hit it).
It is then like the last cry. It may go dormant after those last EM rashes...
But for bart, I think it is like with babesia: you hit babesia, your symptoms change (the disease change, different phases, whatever). You keep hitting it well, it keeps changing, you get different symptoms. Till you get no more babs symptoms anymore.
It's been like that for me, many and many times. Be glad symptoms change, it may mean something is working.
When symptoms stay put and do not change for weeks, months, that is reason for concern, in my opinion.
If a treatment does nothing for a week or two, I change it. For me, it always worked like that. I see fast changes, sometimes it feels like we're going worse, but in fact, it's just like cleaning layer by layer.

Rashes were a huge part of my undx'd lyme and co. through pure happenstance I found that doxy made my rashes go away where prednisone made them spread.
but later when I was treating with 3 abx at a time... I would get these transient rashes (my pre treatment rashes, liked to hang around) they would pop up and be gone the next day... then in another place. they happened more when I was detoxing (with infrared.) so always did look at them as a last hurrah.
But Doxy does work in the skin more than others (why it's used for acne and rosecea) I believe Lyme lodges into all of us in different places... perhaps your skin is the last to need treatment.

Since Doxy works on the skin it makes sense then. They used to give it for acne and maybe still do.
And Brussels you're confirming what I'm thinking.
Just kind of concerned since I know doxy alone is not recommended for bart. Hope I'm not doing damage because this PCP won't do more.
