here is a link to the other post I posted on this issue im having:
http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/1/133433?#000007

SO NOW....

I am reading all this stuff on the adrenals/cushing syndrome, cortisol.... and I can't help but think maybe this is all related to all my symptoms, but I am not sure. I am so confused. my MAIN question for this post is what type of Dr do you go to that will find out all this and maybe link it together????

can an LLMD do that?? or another specialist. I am so sick of feeling this way. here is my list of "new-ish" from the last couple months sx that i think are related some how:

sudden cessation of period (for 2 months now),

constant feeling hot with some really hot periods/flashes either with or without increased perspiration, but with some periods of extreme chill that last several minutes now and then,

muscle weakness (forever since dx with lyme)

bruising more easily than before

just about every food I eat makes me feel really nausiated and ill in other ways

energy level varies, but find lately that I am very tired in the evening, fall asleep on sofa, go to bed then can't get to sleep, then sleep and wake early, then don't feel like gettin gout of bed....

woozy feeling

irritable (but who isn't that feels so crappy??)

muscle aching - used to have this and it was getting better and now it's back again more intense.

lower back ache

blood pressure fluctuations that I can notice which came with feeling sort of faint/floaty- this has happened only about 2 times in the past 2 months.

im sure there are other things I am forgetting. i feel like such a pain to everyone. why can't i just have one set of sx that are all from one thing? it seems every system is screwy and I have no idea what to do or whcih dr to go see.

any help is appreciated.

btw, when I googled "lyme cushings" a ton of links popped up on the subject. im hoping someone here knows something about all this so i can forgo deciphering all that!

Lisa,

I think a Functional Medicine Dr, Integrative Medicine Dr or a Naturopathic Dr could help you find the causes of all your symptoms and address them.

It sounds like you may be suffering from hormonal imbalance, adrenal fatigue, leaky gut and other things that go along with all of that.

Everything works together, so you want someone who will see the big picture and not concentrate on one system.

All of this is very common with Lyme. Some LLMDs will and can address this stuff, so since you presumably already have an LLMD, you might as well start there, and then if they are not equipped to do so, find an integrative doc who can.

Dekrator, yes, that is what I want- a dr that knows everything! but that is probably not to be found! my genetic dr seems to know a lot and he is ND, but he doesn't answer my messages for like 2 weeks and I am dying here (figuratively).

how can a dr that specializes in something take so long to get back to their patients????!!!!

how do you find a functional or integrative dr?

WP I don't have LLMD. i have no money for one, but my husband got a new job with inusrance- YAY- so now I will have *some* money and may be able to see a real LLMD finally. I hope so. but the one thing im really scraed about is that they won't help me or do anyting really diffrerrnt than what I am into now and it will al be a waste of time/money.

this is all so hard and depressing

so -integrative- what does that actually mean and how do you find one?

LisaK, I empathize with you about this! I am well into menopause since 2010, diagnosed with chronic LD and 3rd stage adrenal exhaustion, and hypothyroidism that will not respond well to meds anymore.

For me, the question regarding Lyme and adrenal/thyroid/pituitary balance is "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?" Looking back, it

seems that I held it all together - emotionally, socially, employable - by my adrenals, when they when into decline, I was toast.

I have had 3 adrenal tests since 2010. Two of the 3 docs recommended the test from BioHealth Laboratory in Torrance,CA. www.biohealthlab.com.

Most recently, my GYN doc has updated his recommendation since finding out about a test that uses dried urine. A younger friend of mine

had this test done, followed through with this docs treatment plan and she is a 'new woman'. I'll find the name of this test and let you know, to assist you if inquiring about testing.

After I tried my first Lyme protocol (Buhner) in early 3013, I did OK for about a month then crashed. An ND told me that it was because of my

adrenal condition that I could not handle the processes the herbs were inducing, that I had to build adrenal/thyroid/pitutary balance, and in

the mean time take it really slow at first with processes that precipitate herxes.

Hi LisaK,
Here is the test information I referred to above:
It is called the DUTCH Adrenal Test from Precision Analytical Labs.

I wish so bad that I could fnid a dr that knew what to look for, check for, etc..

I am so strung out with all this. i just want to give up

NanceLynn, that dutch test sounds great, but I have no money for that right now. AND then onvce you do the test what dr will listen to that? do they really take that into consideration?
