I just read on my milk thistle bottle that if you have a ragweed allergy, use caution. I've been taking it for months and never noticed the notice.
I am allergic to ragweed but I dunno that the milk thistle is causing any issues.
Not sure what to do.

Also read that stevia is in the same family and should also be avoided! And I was hearing some good things about Stevia re: lyme. CRAP.

If you have been taking it and all is well, that's what you go on - in this case at this point in time. Still, it's good to rotate from time to time and not do anything day in and day out for extending time -- same with foods, too.

And, if you think it might not be all that good for you, stop it. Milk Thistle can be a bit too strong for some folks, anyway so it can certainly be substituted. And, really, if you do have a true allergy to ragweed, even if slight, with other stresses on your body, it's best not to take any chances.

There are dozens of other things that are very good for liver support. For a start:

by Amy JirsaMay 3, 2012

Excerpt:
. . . 1. If you are allergic to ragweed avoid the following (all in the ragweed plant family):

Chamomile

Milk Thistle

Wormwood [poster's note: author does not mention artemesia / artemisinin yet as they are cousins to wormwood, would be best to explore that]

Goldenseal

Echinacea

2. If you are allergic to latex avoid: . . . .

3. If you are allergic to aspirin, avoid: . . . .

[In the Liver Support Links set are some other herb safety links, be sure to find them, too]

As for stevia, if you've been taking it and do just fine, again - that's what you go on. If not sure, avoid it and see how you do.

Also just good to know that for plant sensitivities / many environmental allergies, STINGING NETTLE LEAF can be excellent, as can MAGNESIUM.

STINGING NETTLE LEAF (not root) - Links set

The herb, STINGING NETTLE may serve to compensate for the reaction by calming the the cytokine storm. This is helpful against a herx, as you may already know . . .

and it is also a major supplement to have on hand for any kind of flu as a cytokine storm can present the most risk from a flu.

IMO, this is a required flu support, going hand in hand with Black Elderberry tincture for support and something stronger & direct such as: LDM-100 (Lomatium root), Allicin, Berberine or Andrographis.

Topic: MAGNESIUM - Informational Links set

This can help to calm inflammation that can come about from reactions to ragweed . . . as well as helping to calm inflammation from other causes.

Of course, if one has a very serious reaction to ragweed - or anything - they should consult with a top naturopathic physician regarding any plant therapies that would be best for them -- or which should be avoided

. . . as well as their MD regarding whether they would require an EPIPEN.

I'm in the process of reading these links.
What would be symptoms of not tolerating the milk thistle?
I do have chamomile tea often.
I rarely get the flu or flulike symptoms.
I definitely have a lot of nerve-type symptoms. Would such herbs (stinging nettle, berberine) be a good idea? I'm trying to stay away from B6 however (due to possible toxicity causing my nerve issues a bit)
I do curcumin, epsom salt baths, acv and asg at times.

I have not used stevia for any Lyme purpose yet. But I added it here b/c I wasnt sure if it was safe if I were to start using it.

I'm also on Mag citrate and mag L-threonate.

Also looks like dandelion may be a good alt to milk thistle? I've heard good things about it as well.
