I did poorly on Flagyl last week and had to stop after 3 doses. I saw dr this morning and I may be starting on lowest dose tinidazole tomorrow, depending on my blood test results.
Will it kill stuff when taken alone or does it need to be in a combo?
Anything I should look out for given that flagyl hit me so hard?

My only input on Tinidzole is to stop it at the first sign of any tingling in the nerves(call your doctor of course). It can cause peripheral neuropathy.

Unfortunately I am already tingling all over before I even start it. Surely that couldn't be from my 3 doses of Flagyl over a week ago could it?

Did the tingling start once you started the flagyl or did you have the tingling before you even started flagyl?

I have had a bit of tingling anyway but it has been worse the last couple of days but that was already about 5 days after last dose of flagyl and I only took 2.5 doses before stopping it.

I strongly suggest that you use all of the detoxifying methods at your disposal, such as:
drink lots and lots of water with fresh lemons squeezed into it
take Alka Seltzer Gold with fresh lemon squeezed into it 3-4 times per day
take glutathione if you can get any
take Epsom Salts baths
use a sauna, etc.
see page 15 of Burrascano which says:
"Flagyl can be irritative to the nervous system- in the short term, it may cause irritability, "spacey" feelings, etc. Longer term, it can affect the peripheral nerves, causing tingles, numbness, etc. If mild, a change in dose may be required. Often, extra vitamin B can clear these symptoms. If the nerve symptoms persist or are strong, then metronidazole must be discontinued or these symptoms may become very long lasting."
I hope that these measures give you relief.
Tinidazole is tolerated better than flagyl. Continue to detoxify like mad while you are on it also. It will kill the persister (or cyst) form of lyme.
Perhaps if you can successfully take the tini, your doc will add doxy to the mix. But, I think trying tini all by itself at first is the way to go given your reaction to flagyl.
Please read all of the discussion of flagyl on p.15 because flagyl and tini can especially cause herx reactions, yeast overgrowth, and a terrible reaction to alcohol including in mouthwash, etc.
Flagyl kills many, many things including parasites! That is why it can make folks so sick as to be intolerable. (This is true of patients that do not have lyme disease also.)

Tinidazole has been really important for me. It gets in my brain, important for someone who has suffered severe cognitive problems from Lyme Disease.
I do think, as with any antibiotic, it must be part of a combination, at least one other antibiotic.
Omniceff and Tinidazole work well together and do penetrate the brain. Adding a third antibiotic is even better. I also was on ketek but stopped because I felt something was wrong with the medication.
