Was hoping someone could offer up a cream/lotion that would stop extreme itching. This is for friend who has stage 3 chronic kidney disease and has a rash that moves around all areas of the body. This rash is unbelievably itchy especially at night and cause severe lack of sleep. She has tried everything from dermatologist scrips to puriya miracle cream.Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

rkal7, your poor friend.

Has she ever tried Benadryl Extra-Strength Itch Stopping Gel? If not, maybe it can help. I hope she gets relief soon.

The best thing I ever used even better than prescription was the Costco - Kirkland brand of anti itch cream. They come in a 3 pak and everyone I gave them to agreed.

Good Luck!

Itching constantly is maddening, to say the least. I wonder if she is allowed to take benadryl orally?

I’m so sorry to hear how your friend is suffering.

That kind of itching is common with late stage kidney failure. She will start to feel it as the toxins build back up in her blood. (As her kidneys are no longer able to filter as they should.)

Your friends kidneys are so compromised that I would even ask her doctor or nurse about what topical cream/ medicine/ lotion would be best to right now.

It would be good for the doctor to know as he may need to evaluate your friend to make sure her condition hasn’t worsened. And he might be able to adjust her treatments to help her body to cope.

I hope you know how that you are such a huge blessing to this sick friend.

Have you tried applying cold cloths/ compresses to the itchy areas? This would help soothe & calm the inflammation.

Throw some wet wash cloths in the freezer, makes perfect quick easy cold cloths!!!

Your friend might also start paying attention to see if their itching gets worse with any certain clothing choices.

Take care!
