has anyone tried oregano and garlic for lyme disease? does it work? I always thought you needed antibiotics to kill lyme.

Oregano oil, even if in protective gel caps (as it the only way it should be taken) is likely far - far - too strong and irritating to the lining of the stomach for your use.

Garlic, if one or two brands, in capsule form, with food, that might be of help.

Still, it's best to have a LL ND if at all possible. You can also review the various herbal protocols here:

How to find an ILADS-educated LL:

N.D. (Naturopathic Doctor);

L.Ac. (Acupuncturist);

D.Ay. (Doctor of Ayurvedic Medicine);

D.O.M. (Doctor of Oriental Medicine);

D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathy);

D.C. (Doctor of Chiropractic);

Integrative / Holistic M.D., etc.

Be aware that integrative doctors can have various levels of formal herbal &/or nutritional education, even sometimes just weekend courses, perhaps. You want someone with a deep knowledge.

Do ask first. Some have learned on their own from experts in the field.

Some of the specialities above may not actually treat lyme yet, for things such as physical adjustments, it is just good that they are also LL, at least to some degree (to know never to suddenly twist the neck or spine).

Links to many articles and books by holistic-minded LL doctors of various degrees who all have this basic approach in common:

Understanding of the importance of addressing the infection(s) fully head-on with specific measures from all corners of medicine;

knowing which supplements have direct impact, which are only support and which are both.

You can compare and contrast many approaches, including RIFE machine.

My opinion is that the herbal Buhner protocol would be a better avenue to investigate. There are online groups for that, too.

I've never had ABX due to life threatening allergy to all ABX except fluroquinolones. Italso took me 21 yrs. to get a correct dx.

I did the Zhang Protocol for 5 months, which had so much garlic in it that my husband would not go near me, lol. He said he could smell me from another room! It did not help me.

I did the early Cowden Protocol for 4 years and it made me herx like crazy. The Samento was killing something, but the herxes were so bad I never got anywhere near the normal starting dose and never got any better.

When I stopped though, I got a lot worse and have continued to do so.
