I’ve had optical migraines without pain occasionally over the years since being diagnosed with Lyme, babs,Bart and mycoplasma.

Looks like I’m looking thru a kaleidoscope, no pain and lasts in both eyes for 10-20 min.

2 hrs after drinking celery juice for the first time, I started having this. I had 4 episodes about 30 min apart this evening. Anyone think it could be herxing?

I get these same light shows. Here's my experience from last year;

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/1/136976

Still have no answer on what causes this.
Migraines. What causes this? Silence. . .
I now have episodes of no color in my vision, see only black and white, usually in the afternoon. I have an appointment with Neuro Optometrist. Took 5 months to book!
She is a specialist for head trauma and MS patients with vision problems. Looking foward to picking HER brain.

Nothing is a waste of time as long as you keep moving foward.

No color in vision...only black and white? WHOA!!!

Are you aware the Western Fench Lizard ,hunts to eat insects at NIGHT and thus has a LOT of rod cells (grabbing any available light to see - NOT color -+cones).Bb infested ticks on that lizard- when the ticks are full and fall off, they no longer have ANY Bb in them.

B+ W = rods, color = cones.

So....Dr. Lane (Berkely) said something in the blood of the Western Fence lizard is capable of destroying all forms of Bb and he said it was likely a protein that protected the lizard. proteins are destroyed by heating)

Google: MS TUDCA.

VERY recent. Likely need 100mg Doxy + 250mg TUDAC TID for MONTHS. They look to work in concert.

I drink mangosteen juice to stop my Lyme eye symptoms. It's an anti-inflammatory juice. I get it at the healthfood store and drink about an ounce a day.

So this can be an experiment for anyone to try. If it works, let us know!

I have gotten the visual effects of migraines without pain for many years. At first a cup of strong coffee opened the veins enough to help. Now, I have to take medicine to control it.

I found that if I eat eggs, I get migraines. Strange enough, I'm not the only one around here who avoids eggs because of migraines.

Among multiple possible factors, four things that occur to me:

1. If you have not yet, be sure to call your eye doctor first thing Friday morning.

2. Celery juice is sky high in oxalate cyrstals

These can be very irritating as well as quite literally - damaging - to tender tissue of various types, anywhere in the body.

It's a good idea to avoid oxalates as much as possible for anyone with any kinds of inflammatory issues.

A low oxalate diet is key.

3. Be sure to take some good quality magnesium tonight. Magnesium CITRATE would be the best to try, at least some if possible, to help mitigate the influx of all the oxalates.

Space out the magnesium, do not take it all at once as only so much can be absorbed by the body at one time. It has to be taken 3 - 4 x a day.

4. Celery also is very high in nitrates, naturally. That can really throw some people for a loop. Nitrates are a major migraine trigger for many people.

The magnesium should help a bit to lessen the inflammation, whatever the cause(s), inflammation is very likely on board.

WATER, too. Be sure you are properly hydrated but also not ready to float out to sea.

5. Try to avoid TV or computer / phone or tablet use tonight and rest your eyes. Nice music might really help.

Take care &good luck.

If you don't have magnesium CITRATE on hand, if you have a fresh lemon, you might try a little fresh lemon juice in water with a little sea salt. That has some citric acid in the lemon.

Other forms of magnesium might help reduce inflammation and that's good but it's the citrate type that helps reduce the oxalate load in the body.

I hope you are getting a good night's sleep

Though, on Friday, if you could get magnesium citrate, that would be good.

The mangosteen that Robin suggests also an excellent idea to help reduce inflammation.

To help avoid offending foods, one list for starters, for each category that seems highly suspect below. Be sure to avoid any spinach or almonds as those are very high in oxalates.

Hope this helps:

Low, Medium, & High Oxalate foods

Most typical articles seem to say that oxalates are only a problem for kidneys stones, however, they can lodge anywhere in the body.

I'm not as familiar with other sources for Nitrates but they are usually on lists for migraine triggers. Nitrates & Nitrites.

Just to add to the core of knowledge about migraines:

When the visual affects are flashing lights, my doctor said it means pressure is affecting the area around the optic nerve. If the blood in the area is being stalled, the blood could tend to clot. One friend had a stroke in the middle of this type of migraine.

It may be common, but should not be ignored.
