I am returning to college next week, taking online courses at a nearby community college in a medical program.

Like all colleges I have to have all my immunizations up to date, before I go out to my externship site I need to have a tuberculosis skin test, a flu shot (yup here we go!) and my Tdap booster which I am already over due for. I am on 1 antiviral, and 3 antibiotics.

Are these tests/immunizations even safe and could they possibly compromise my treatment? I graduate in December, I have struggled so much to get here and extremely worried this will be an issue. My LLMD is out till Sept 3. I know I know....

I should have thought about this a few months ago when my treatment began, a lot has hit me in the last 3-4months. I'm kicking myself now about it.

(breaking up the post for easier reading for many)

I would page him as this is an important issue.

Agree. I suggest you take no action until you have had that medical discussion. Also perhaps a legal inquiry into your rights.

I would find out your states legal exemptions, I would not get the vaccines. DTAP made me crazy along with getting 4 Mercury filling in my mouth prior to that. I have had to do other treatments to achieve wellness mentally. The flu shot has mercury, the other ones have aluminum along with nefarious ingredients.

Good luck on your journey.

Required to have a flu shot? Wow, what a medically dystopian nightmare we are turning into.

Look into what the exemptions are in your state. www.nvic.org

My kids went to college with exemptions for vaccines.

My daughter went to college and we signed a religious exemption. Most states have some sort of way around vaccines at this point. They make you think that it's mandatory because most people just go along with it.

I personally would not have any vaccines with a chronic illness that compromises the immune system. My daughter was in the bed for a month after getting talked into the TDap because of a puncture injury.

Are you going into any sort of medical career that will involve direct patient care?

If so, the college will likely require you to be fully updated on your basic vaccines & pass a TB skin test. They don’t typically give exemptions. They want you to be protected because you will be working so closely with patients.

Colleges have requirements that mirror employers. So maybe take a pause, think about what you really want for your future. A career in medicine is incredibly rewarding, fascinating, fun, & HARD work.

Wherever your path takes you, have fun & don’t be afraid of the vaccines!

TDaP vaccine unleashed a world of pain and suffering that I never knew existed. I went from 99% symptom free/remission to fighting for my life in the period of a week.

4 years later I have still not fully recovered.

I am not the only one that this has happened to.
