For the past two months, my right knee has been swollen and it can't extend straight, otherwise it hurts severely. I didn't injure my knee, so my LLMD and I both think it's the Lyme/Bartonella.

My chiropractor and LLMD both want me to go to an orthopedist.

Does anyone know of anything that might help? My LLMD said that the orthopedist might want me to do physical therapy and I'm open to doing that.

A swollen knee is certainly possible with Lyme/Bartonella, and two months seems way to long for a gout attack. You weren't taking a fluoroquinolone (Cipro, Levaquin...) antibiotic, were you?

Other than that, I would wait to see what the orthopedist says.

Thanks! no, I'm not taking that class of antibiotic.

My lyme dr said that swollen knee with lyme usually happens to children (often).
My daughter had a very swollen knee, during lyme.

When drs. saw that awfully big swollen knee, they asked me immediately: has she been bitten by a tick? And that was in 2006.

When I said 'yes', they already decided to start her on antibiotics (Rocephin), that I refused, but the common thought was that it was Bb.

When the exams came out (knee punction), I remember staphiloccocus was found in her knee.

Don't know whether this would help - I take capsules of turmeric powder that takes down inflammational pain in my muscles and my joints, including my knees. It works pretty quickly for me, like within a half hour after taking it.

I get the powder in bulk at the health food store and dip empty 00-size capsules in it, take one in the am and pm.

Cold laser therapy helped my bad knee a lot. Now it's only my other knee that gives me trouble sometimes.
