I assume we stay sick for a number of reasons. And now that I’m being treated for Sleep Apnea, I wonder, is that one of them?

Apnea occurs when the tongue slips back to block the airway when you breathe at night. It’s more common in overweight people, but it’s ultimately a structural issue, due to smaller jaws, and recessed mandibles. Two issues which are common in people who eat Western Diets.

Apnea disrupts the sleep due to reduced oxygen intake. People with apnea spend less time in deep sleep, and in REM sleep, and they often wake up repeatedly in the night.

A quick look at Pubmed showed studies indicating much higher rates of autoimmune disease among people with Apnea.

I think it’s worth a shot.

If you snore, go see a doctor and get a sleep study.

It certainly can’t hurt.
