FYI:

A Facebook friend of mine is warning all her friends that you can get diabetes from statin drugs and diurectics. She got it from the diurectics.

Steroids can do the same. You may want to check out the list of drugs that can cause it.

Please specify type 2. Type 1 is an autoimmune disorder that completely destroys the body's ability to produce insulin. A drug like prednisone can bring type 1 out a little early, but doesn't actually create diabetes. And prednisone can create higher blood sugar in people without diabetes: their blood sugar goes back down when stopped.

Yes, of course. Type 2

She did say, however, that her pancreas is barely functioning. It was hit hard. It's been about a month and she is still having severe issues.

I had the MD take my 96 year old father off statins and his blood glucose has dropped 30 points in the 8 months since. Still high but not super high.

We have to be so vigilant with our parents!!

I had to put my foot down and tell my mom's doctor that she was not going to take a drug for osteoporosis (BECAUSE HER BONES WERE FINE!) nor for high cholesterol (WHICH SHE DID NOT HAVE!)

(oh yeah, the statins were supposed to keep inflammation down .. thereby helping her A-fib)
nope

It's hard to believe that doctors can be so clueless. They believe everything the drug reps say.

(I know it's a different situation with your dad, hiker.)
