Hi all-
I am new here and newly diagnosed with Lyme.

I live in a very high Lyme area and work in the veterinary field.

In addition, I have a horse so coming in contact with ticks is inevitable.

I was bit by a tick about a year ago, no rash and no symptoms until about 6 months ago.

I began to notice I was getting fatigued very easily. I also started to have aches and pains.

I have a bad back so I chalked it up to that.

But, no matter what I did ( chiropractic, massage, acupuncture, exercise) they got worse not better.

I began to notice I was extremely irritable and moody.

I had a hard time getting up and going and normally I am very active.

I started to notice I was having trouble remembering things and also putting thoughts and words together.

I have ADD and also had quite a bit of stress going on at the time so, again I brushed off the symptoms.

Finally, the stress got so bad I had to take some time off from work.

I took 2 months, thinking I just needed a break to get back to normal.

I started back at work in the fall only 2 days a week and was shocked at how fatigued I was from only 2 days.

I also was annoyed that my memory was not any better.

In addition the pain got worse to the point where I couldn't remember a pain free day.

I felt like someone was stabbing my lower back, hips and shoulders with a hot knife.

I started to get more and more depressed and finally said to my husband, "That's it, I am so sick of feeling this way!

Something is wrong with me! I am going to the dr. to find out what."

I had an appt with my psychiatrist scheduled and while there I mentioned everything.

He told me from his notes this seemed to have started almost 6 months earlier.

I had an appt with my primary care dr the week after.

The psych dr ordered blood work for me so it would be ready for the primary care appt.

He threw in a Lyme test just because of my symptoms, location and occupation.

Unfortunately, the lab didn't have the blood work in by the primary care appt so the results couldn't be discussed.

I got a phone call the next day from the psych dr and he informed me I was Lyme +.

I know I need more comprehensive testing at this point but the symptoms certainly fit the description.

My GP is away until friday and I will see him then.

I have heard horror stories from people who have gone to Lyme disease "specialists" only to be misinformed.

I do not want that to happen.

That is why I am here.

I would like to get some references for Dr's who deal with this disease and can really help.

Thank you in advance

and thank you bettyg for telling me to edit this so it was easier to read:)

welcome jill to the board; thanks for editing it vs. 1 long non-stop paragraph.

when you go to GP friday, be sure to get copies of YOUR LYME TESTS.

was it western blot igm and igg blood tests drawn?

sent to which lab?

please post your positive, pos/neg no., and IND numbers here.... NOT NEGATIVE ONLY NUMBERS!
*******************************************

do it this way please!

IGM ... do same thing for IGG below IGM
*******************************************

18 +
41 +/-
78 IND

we'll help you on the results, but look also at the top of medical for post by LYMETOO, DR. C'S EXPLANATION OF WESTERN BLOT.

i'd even suggest printing that off for yourself, and even your dr. might be interested in it where his office staff could make themselves a copy of it.

look for my going to 1st LLMD appt.; things to ask, etc. should be in 1st 15-20 pages!

Jill again-
I posted this in medical advice too but wanted to post it here since betty asked me too:)

Hello all-

I am new here and posted a Dr. request in the Dr. forum. I was asked to post my results when I got them.

I was supposed to see my GP ( who is an internal med/rhemutoid arthritis specialist too) today.

Unfortunately, due to snow, he cancelled but I asked them to fax my blood work to me anyway. I wanted to have it should my symptoms get worse before I see him.

I need help interpreting my results. My lyme test was run by Quest Diagostics.

A WB IgG and IgM were done along with a Lyme disease screen and LD Interpretive?

So results are as follows:

LD Screen: 1.82
range < or= 0.90

LD interpret: +
Reference ranges for above-
< or =0.90 Negative
0.91 to 1.09 Equivocal
> or = 1.10 Positive

LD IgG WB:

18 reactive (+)
23 non-reactive (-)
28 non-reactive (-)
30 non-reactive (-)
39 non-reactive (-)
41 reactive (+)
45 non-reactive (-)
58 reactive (-)
66 non-reactive (-)
93 non-reactive (-)

LD IgM WB

23 non-reactive (-)
39 non-reactive (-)
41 reactive (+)

Anyone have any insight?

Thanks
Jill
