Hi jeanne7

Welcome to lymenet.
You are within a 1 hour driving distance to some of the best LLMD's in the country. Research any LLMD's that are provided and make an appointment ASAP as there is sure to be a waiting list. Ask to be put on their cancellation list as this sometimes can get you a sooner appointment.

Get your finances in order as Lyme disease is expensive (LLMD's don't accept insurances). Start a folder to include all previous testing/blood work, medical procedures/ medical providers seen. This can save you money sometimes.

You can request a LLMD through Global Lyme Alliance here;

https://globallymealliance.org/education-awareness/find-medical-professional/

You can request a LLMD through ILADS here;

https://www.ilads.org/patient-care/provider-search/

You must become your own healthcare advocate. Learn all you can about Tick Borne Diseases. Utilize Lyment's 'search' engine function for any questions you may have or post your question in Lyment's open forum and one of the dedicated members will offer their own experiences. We love to help !

Good luck to you. I will send you a private message.

Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for CT.

Please add the specific state you are looking for in the title of your post. That way, you will get more responses.

Click on "Edit Post" above your post, then add the state you are looking for. To finish, click "Edit Post" at the bottom of your post.

You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.

Here is a link for them:

Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. You need to go where they are.

Also, most LLMDs do not take insurance due to the politics surrounding this disease. Read poster TF's explanation about this:

"Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance"

When calling for an appointment, ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in sooner by doing this.

Check the online state Lyme groups at:
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/NewYorkLyme/info

Maybe they can help. They would know better about NY.

Some more resources for you (including Support Groups info):

Read the books written by the top LLMD, Dr. H titled, "Why Can't I Get Better?" and "How Can I Get Better?". They are an excellent source of information.

Also "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check your local library or buy it used on Amazon.
