I live in New Mexico where doctors tend to come and go often. While I do currently live in Albuquerque and need to find a good LLMD who can treat me, and also test/treat my young children, I don't intend to live here much longer.
When considering other places to live, what places tend have the most LLMD's? Is it similar to the Lyme Map: Minnesota/WI and NE USA? Are there many places yet where a LLMD available on standard insurance plans?

Do you need insurance coverage? There aren't too many who accept it, so if you prefer that, that's probably a good place to start an inquiry as to who knows doctors who take insurance, and then we will send you a private message.

Yes, insurance coverage would be great, of course. Mostly, I just do not plan to stay in New Mexico and want to know if there are other regions with more access to LLMDs.

MN and WI .. NO .. They believe Mayo that Lyme does not exist.
You don't want to move to Tick Haven .. so forget the NorthEast.
There's a great LLMD in Missouri. The ticks are there but not too horrible if you stay out of the woods.
Most good LLMD's do NOT take insurance.

- It's not so much the LLMDs would not want to be able to be covered under a good policy but most insurance companies simply do not want to cover doctors who do such good work.
Because it's so complex, it's never "just" lyme (other coinfections always on board), and each person is affected differently and might also react to treatment options differently,
It takes time and much thought, wisdom and individualized on-going, frequently changing treatment plans.

- Some LLMDs are covered, at least minimally, by some insurance though that is the exception.
Some patients manage by finding a lyme "friendly" PCP who can help in some ways, even if not full on treatment protocols.
Also check out all of the books by Stephen H. Buhner, a very much LL master herbalist with other ways to approach, even if just while you wait to find / afford a LLMD. -

Btw, everyone (including pets) needs to take precautions when outside in CA since infected ticks have been reported everywhere.
