I am looking for a Lyme doctor in my area in Northern Wisconsin/ Duluth Minnesota. My regular doctor thinks I am "cured" after a 30 day of antibiotics.....

Welcome to lymenet Teacher Tina

You can request a LLMD through ILADS here;

https://www.ilads.org/patient-care/provider-search/

You can request a LLMD through Global Lyme Alliance here;

https://globallymealliance.org/education-awareness/find-medical-professional/

Most LLMD's don't participate in insurances. Here's why;

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/2/25539?

You need to get your finances in order as the intial visit is expensive. Also create a folder with all things medical. . . all medical professionals visited, medical tests done, blood work results, daily symptom problem list, dates and copies of everything for your LLMD to keep in your file.

Feel free to utilize Lymenet's search engine function for any questions or just post your questions in open forum for response from Lyme warriors who have first-hand experiences. We are open 24 hours a day. 💚

I will send you a private message. Good luck.

Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for MN.

Thirty days in nowhere near the amount of time needed to treat Lyme.

You needs to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.

Here is a link for them:

Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. You need to go where they are.

Also, most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=025539;p=0

When you call for an appointment, ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in earlier by doing this.

Check the online state Lyme groups at:
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/MinnesotaLyme/info

Maybe they can help. They would know better about MN.

Some more resources for you:

Read the books written by the top LLMD, Dr. H, titled, "Why Can't I Get Better?" and "How Can I Get Better?". They are an excellent source of information.

Also read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check the local library or buy it used on Amazon.

Btw - I know you are new to Lymenet, but you should add the state in your title so people will specifically know where you are looking. To do this. click "Edit Post" above your post, make your changes, then click "Edit Post" at the bottom.
