My ins co wants me to order through the mail and do 90 days instead of going to the pharmacy. I was just wondering if it is good for meds to sit in your mail box when its 100 degrees or more outside. I don't like the idea, at least not in these temps. But soon my ins co is going to charge me full price for my meds if I don't do the mail in thing.

Also how do you use Costco Pharmacy? I assume you have to have a prescription. Do you mail it to them. My doc faxes most of my prescriptions. Can you fax them to Costco? Wow it is so much cheaper. Can't even believe the difference in price compared to regular pharmacy. It is completely ridiculous.

Do you have a Costco in MS??? I really never thought about ordering through the mail with them. Have no clue about it. (We don't have a Costco here.)

I've ordered on the 90 day thing for about 30 yrs... can't believe you are paying the higher prices of ordering monthly! It would break me, I think!

Remember that when the meds are shipped to the pharmacy they are not in climate control either... so as long as you get your meds within an hour or so of arrival to your mailbox it shouldn't be so bad.

Can you make a deal with the mail carrier that they knock on your door to give you the meds?? My mailbox is about a block away, so there have been many many times my stuff sat in that box a few hours!

No we don't have a Costco here in MS either. But the prices are so much less through them, I can't believe it.

I am about to have to get some of my meds through the 90 day deal. Some of them are so cheap it doesn't matter, like the Doxy.

It makes me nervous to do it through the mail. I'm afraid they won't get sent quick enough and I can't skip my psych meds, and they are the ones that cost so much.

But gotta start, since my ins co is threatening to charge me full price if I don't do it.

You'll like it. Just order early .. give them about 7 days to get it to you.

Funny how these insurance people work. They are telling you you must send it in through the mail.

I used to get all my Rx's that way. 3 months at a time. Then one day I got a call from the prescription insurance people stating that they could no longer fill my abx or antiviral through the mail.

THey cited the IDSA guidelines and that they ascribe to them. They'd contacted my doc, got my dx, and decided not to pay.

Of course I was very unhappy, and she said, "well, if you feel the meds are benefiting you in any way, then you can try and fill them locally"..

I was like, "are they benefiting me? I think so, as I no longer use braces on my legs to walk!"

She apologized but stated there was nothing she could do, so I nervously took the rx's to my local pharmacy and they filled them, one month at a time. I've had to do that ever since.

I think it's been about 1 1/2 years ago.

My insurance has required me to use mail order for certain "maintenance" medications. They always say to allow for 2wks to process the RX and shipment. It really only takes a couple days for me to receive the order.

If you are concerned about the heat and them sitting in your mailbox, can you have the post office hold them there for you to pick up?

For Costco pharmacy, you don't have to have a Costco membership to use the pharmacy. It is indeed cheaper than most. Target and WalMart are the next cheapest. call around, all three have some things cheaper than others.
