I run with it sometimes too - in this case, I'd say - I'm confused - I thought it had a bacterial problem - do you know anything about antibiotics for computers?

this reminds me of one time I got some people at my door for a religous conversion. I said that I had something for THEM and ran and got a handout from my own faith and asked them to read it and get back to me with their thoughts.

you shoulda seen their faces!!! priceless

they didn't come back ever.

I tell them the master and mistress are not at home and they have to talk to the housekeeper.

that does it.....

When sales people call, my son gets on the phone and messes with them, acts like he's mentally disturbed.

The last time it happened the sales person asked him if he was ok.

He never called back.

My hubby used to work as a computer tech.

When I got a call like Maddog did, I told them my husband is a computer tech and he will take care of it. There was silence and then the guy says, "that's not good" kind of to himself. Then he says "Have a nice day!" and hangs up!

Once when my husband answered the phone, he asked questions about it until they figured out that he knows too much about computers and viruses - then they hung up on him!

My mom has been good at this. Once someone called about selling us some water softeners. "Oh," exclaimed my mom, "We already have 10 of them!" The person on the line was so excited: "Ten?! You have TEN of them? Wow!" We just started laughing at our end!

Computer always call and talked about my PC. I play their game for a long time and then say, "oops, I have a Mac."

Never tried it but unwanted sales calls were greeted

with a shrill whistle in their ear as long and as hard as you can blow.

Another neat trick is when they start on their speil of canned message

to you lay the phone down on the counter and let them talk to the wind.

Usually gets you off the call list pronto.

My annoyance is computer-generated calls. You can't get rid of those.

Hubby always used to answer the phone with the following phrase - McDonald's, can I help you. Almost always ends a sales call quickly.

That was back before we had caller ID and sometimes it was my mom or someone else besides a sales call, but people that knew us just laughed because of Steve's quirky sense of humor.

I use caller reject but I still get calls. I won't answer private number or unknown number. but I still get them.

Ha! Just remembered how my hubby's boss used to answer the phone after the shop closed for the day....

"Joe's Bar and Grill - May I help you?"

haha... I remember using "Joe's Bar and Grill!"

I can block the calls on my cell phone after they call. (I don't answer the ones I don't know.)

but it's the land line that gets annoying. I get so many calls that are computer-generated and no way to stop them.

Being on the "no-call" list is just about useless.

I, too, used "Joe's Bar and Grill" until one evening when I used that line it was a parent of one my students calling.

I hung up and when they called back I adopted my professional voice and they never knew what had happened.

I got another call about my computer this week.
After he gave his little talk, I told him:
I guess you want me to send you money so you can fix it.
That ended the conversation.

When charities call, I take advantage of the opportunity and tell them I'm putting all available funds and time to fight Lyme disease.
Then I go into my "Lyme presentation" to educate them. I must have overdone it one time. When I finished talking, the lady said "Oh, I'm so sorry. I'll put you on my prayer list."
I thanked her and we hung up.

I'll have to try "Joe's Bar & Grill."
