I got a new temporary job. I am soooo excited! it starts sunday and only goes for about a month. 2 days a week except for training this coming week which is more hours.

I am a little more than worried but not full blown freaking out YET.... haha. but on my way to that as I relaly think now that my recent tick bite may have triggered more sx or given me bart again.

my brain keeps screaming 'bart' at me as I seem to have all those sx. this in itself is freaking me out more than the job. the job will be very fast paced and mostly all hand work.

that is not a good thing for me and I am praying for my hands to work so I don't embarrass myslef or come across as a drug addict and set myself up for drug testing there (as stated in the paprework)any suspision of drug use is cause for body, car search and testing on the spot.

this in itself has me in anxiety. I am so lucky to have all the super anxiety genes and I am being treated to try and get that back on track of making gaba, etc, but I really am not feeling very good. I am telling myself that I can get through this and my brain can still have power over it's thoughts for now, but

I am looking for any kind of very quick bart fix as I cannto go to a dr until next week or afford my own testing right this minute , unless i go to GP and beg for bart test which there is a 5% chance of her saying ok, and then what anyway????

as you can see from this I am acting irratically, or maybe you can't, IDK. but I sure feel nuts. I wish so bad my alternative lyme dr had an opening today for testing. I thnk just that would help put me a bit at ease no matter what results say.

is there any fast ackting temporary bart causing sx helper out there????? legal things, of course [Wink]

would valerian help? or just make me dumb. I need my mind to stay sharp but my body to behave. wa wa wa I feel like such a big baby! am I going insane? what the heck is going on ????

Lisa-Congrats on the job! Don't worry, things will work out the way they're meant to. One thing I tell myself all the time is 'it's ok to be sick, wig out, pass out, etc.' even though I'm at work.

If you can't manage it's just not the right time. I didn't work for 10 years and have been working full time for a little over a year now.

You're awesome! Go Lisa!

[woohoo]

Congrats, Lisa! Take a few deep breaths!!

My husband takes "Nerve Blend" by Solaray for his nerves. It does contain valerian ..and a few other herbs. Check it out!

Just try to take it easy - it's a big step for you!

You can do this Lisak. You are a wonderful person to talk to and you will manage just fine. It will be fun, something fun to do. [Smile]

o my it was so hard. I don't know if I can do it..... it involves a lot of creativity and ticks have taken that from me. what am I to do???????

Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :

It's good for the brain??

What are you having to do, if I may ask?

Posted by Robin123 (Member # 9197) on :

What I suggest - see what parts of the job you can do - if this one isn't just right for you, at least you'll get a little experience as to what you think you could handle in your next attempt at a job.

I think we all need to figure out our capacities as to what we can handle and what we can't.

Lisa.. your mailbox is full up!

Posted by sickofthepain (Member # 39579) on :

Do what you can do Lisak. If you feel that you can't, that it is way too much, then don't feel guilty about it. You gave it a shot.

It is hard to work when you are sick and you have given jobs an effort, that is more than some healthy people do. You never know until you try. Good for you for getting out there!

ok I delte some in my PM.

I have to work under presure with this job, and that is not good. I thnk I may buy some supplies and try to do this at home to get better at it and see if I can do it faster, etc.... but is that dumb?

I could ask for another section at the place- there are other positions , but they pay less per hour.

Posted by LisaK (Member # 41384) on :

I decided to tell them I cannot do this job. with my new bart sx I am a mess. I think I would snap- especially with the 10 min. time limit to get each task done.

I am so disapointed.....

LisaK [group hug]

You are so BRAVE! I don't know very many folks that would even attempt to look for a job feeling so sick.

Something will come along that's just right for you. I have a super easy receptionist job now but it took me awhile to find one that isn't taxing.

YOU ROCK!!!

Posted by Robin123 (Member # 9197) on :

You tried, and that's a good thing, I think - I think trying gives us a sense of where we're at for the time being, and if we're not ready, we're not ready.

However, when you have your bart sx hopefully treated a little, perhaps you will be able to consider exploring a nonpressured job of some kind.

Hi lisa...my life has been crazy thru this. Im glad u got so much support here. After stopping full time teaching job that required masters degree i couldnt water flowers at a nursery or be cashier at convenient store

You have some special skills and enjoy the art you do...maybe you can find something that works. I know things that help de-clutter are big now....and many small...can be made inside...small tools

The right job will come.

ok, so I think I have good news!!

I told my boss everything and he really wants me to stay , so he is giving me a super easy job in the same department-

it's like instead of making a car engine in 15 minutes I will be screwing in 3 screws, ahaha, somehting like that but not. I can't say publicly where it is as someone I know may figure it out and I don't want any unwanted visitors if you know what I mean.

so I will work a couple days a week for a few hours each. I think I can handle this and as my husband says it gets me in the door somewhere and also out of the house and from thinking about how sick I am 24/7.

if I screw this easy job up then I am really in trouble.

thanks everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ak, let's hope this job is that job for me!

kayak, I hear ya. I went from a big brain researcher and writer to a tiny pea brain almost nothing do-er. certainly a humbling experience. I guess I needed to be humbled. [Wink]

I hope bart doesn't get too much in the way. if I start treatment now maybe it will be alright.

OK!! so last night was crazy and fast. my boss told me to still come, I think I told you that above, and so I went with the idea it would be pretty easy.

well... they were short handed in the harder department so they plunked me in there and told me I could take my time, etc.. but, when the action started, forget it. they didn't give me more time and it's a big long room and I am at the end kind of like a production room and as soon as you get your

product you have 10-15 min to complete the task and they were yelling to stop even if I wasnt finsshed and although they said I did well and they were pleased at the end of the night it left me totally wiped out and useless until I had a nap this afternoon. then

I woke and it was time to go back there. I had such anxiety waiting for the production to start and I was not happy with many results of mine . its too fast to even compare to others in the room so I don't get much chance to look around.

I thought they were going to call me out and tell me some news at end of shift. they actually did. I said goodnight and they asked me to go into other room and I was composing myself to hear something. anything.

then they said how happy they are with my and how I was fast enough and did better than a lot of other people in there! hahaaa. I don't believe it, but it was soooooooooooo good to hear that for sure. wow.

I am still pinching myself.

other than all that- my pain is pretty bad and I dn't know what to do except take tylanol or advil or whatever. my hands are especially hit. it's not all inflamation, so what is good for tick disease pain? heat? cold? my hands feel like I was out to sea on an old ship with hard core rope that I tied for days. in other words WORN OUT

Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :

That's wonderful!! Now if you can just get that anxiety under control.

Me ?? I would take tons of magnesium and then some curcumin for the pain and inflammation.

Posted by dbpei (Member # 33574) on :

It sounds like a stressful day for you, but glad you were rewarded for your efforts instead of belittled or anything like that.

If you can squeeze in an epsom salt bath, that would probably be best for you. There is also an epsom salt or Magnesium Lotion that might help your hands. You can do a search on Amazon for this.

Hope you can get some rest and feel better soon.

lymetoo
dbpei
thanks, and good suggestions. that bath sounds so good. I saw some mag flakes on line I might order to take a bath in too.

and yes, despite the rush rush and pressure it is a really fun job and they are nice supportive people there who run it.

the one supervisor also told me that if I ever need a break to let her know. they know about lyme because another woman there deals with it. and my super said she knows about anxiety because she has it bad.

seems almost too good to be true.

I am glad I pushed myself and that others prodded me on. I feel like the little engine that could and I am half way up that hill. yay

Get some epsom salts today .. Do NOT get the ones with added lavender or other scents.

LisaK,

Congrats! Its so encouraging to hear stories like yours!

I am new here and just found out I had Lyme a week or 2 ago. My doctor prescribed Tramadol for my joint pain which has been super intense.

The tramadol has helped, although the dr I am working with at the moment is my PCP not a LLMD, as I can't get in to see one for a month or so.

Not sure if this is a good med to take while so sick, but it has helped the pain so much. I am only taking it when its unbearable.

Dbpei, that is such good info about those lotions! I don't have a bathtub and have been sad that I can't take an epson salt bath for my pain. I will give the lotion a try!

Lisak, congrats again, remember to pace yourself and do what you can handle!

I have some epsom. I wil take a bath. I just ordered magnesium flakes for the bath too.

GREEN WHERE_- welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know anything about Tramadol. I hope you find relief.

Posted by lpkayak (Member # 5230) on :

Tramadol helps me but stays with me a long time and makrs me sleepy

Ibuprofen is magicvfor me...600 mg...but you have to be careful it ac hurt gi

I often packmy hands in those squishy ice packs you put in freezer. I wrap elastic bandage wraps around them and fall asleep tht way

Good luck with job

Your comment abive about "humble" reminded me of me way back in the beginning...you go thru the thoughts of "why me" when you get dx and realize how bad it is...i was superwoman before lyme...and thats whst i thought. I need to slow down and learn humility and patiencevandvthe fact that sometimes no matter how hard you work...there are things you cant do

I got some magnesium lotion that you rub in and I think it is helping. along with the tylanol.

I was wondering if ice would help, kayak.
but wasn't sure if it is ligament damage should you use ice? or heat? I always get confused iwth that hot /cold thing.

I also took a long bath in the magnesium flakes. I didn't know when I ordered the bag for $10 you are supposed to put the entire bag in the tub!! but it was worht it probably - to jump start some more mag I guess. I felt very weak and dizzy when I got out but about an hour or so later I felt fantastic and it lasted pretty long.

I am doing pretty good , but last night during work I kept second guessing my worth there and everything was messing up. my equipment wasn't working right

and I spilled liquids all over and was dropping things... ugh. by mid way it got better, thank God.

they keep telling me I am doing very well so that makes me feel good especially after a rough day like that. but I still am not sure what to believe. I dont feel confident at all. and I am really slow.

I only get about half done compared to what a lot of others do. I go about 5-10 over the time I am supposed to take each job.

today I am not feeling to great. flu symptoms. I hope its just lyme and not a real flu. I don't want to pass it around to my family.

Posted by lpkayak (Member # 5230) on :

Heat first 24 hrs then ice...but some say to rotate ice and heat

My dil teaches 2 nd grade in rochester ny and broght the flu home...now my son has it

Hope you dont get real sick

Posted by LisaK (Member # 41384) on :

I am real sick.. blehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I am going nuts. cannot get comofrtable.

no fever, but everything else. driving me batty!

Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :

The WHOLE BAG??? How much? The normal usage of epsom salts is one to two cups .. 20 minutes maximum in the tub. Be sure to rinse off.

(flakes may be a different story, not sure .. but $10 sounds way too high)

Posted by LisaK (Member # 41384) on :

I think it was a pound? it said for foot soak use 2-3 cups or something, but I felt I needed to really soak.
