Hey gang,

Hope you are having a blessed Sunday.

I know some of us are nursing body parts and not exercising as much, but I do so enjoy this thread.

Lp--My guess is soon you will be doing more exercise than the rest of us with your rehab. Wishing you wellness.

AK--Maybe you can just walk for awhile and not do the weights.

Tutu--you are amazing that you just keep going with the machine and those laps.

Taking another day off for knee. Plus it is 40 mph winds today. Hope to walk a bit tomorrow after work.

I am reading a good book by John Ortberg (Christian author), so will head to my reading chair now.

Thanks for starting the thread, hiker! I had trouble getting over here today.

The workout I do at exercise is really not that hard. I probably don't push myself enough, but I do what I'm really able to do.

I get to watch my SPURS on TV, but I am SO sleepy!!! Had a short night and a long Sunday morning. Maybe I'll sleep the first half??

One day I was so tired, that I could NOT wake up from my nap. Every time I tried to make myself get up, I would get a headache. So .. I stayed put. My body was just telling me to STAY.

It's 63 today. We broke all kinds of records yesterday. The high in the nearby city was 82 (84 here) and that broke the record from 1932 all to heck. The old record was 72.

On the other hand, we are DRY .. we need some snow or RAIN soon!

They're celebrating my father in law's 90th birthday today at church and at a restaurant. Lots of family showed up. So wish we could have been there with them.

I hope to get some things accomplished around here today... but don't hold your breath on that!! [Big Grin]

lp--You sound so much better. And making progress. Hurrah!

Sunday-Made brunch and did some juicing for me and Mom. Ran errands and now I'm in bed and its only 6:00pm.

Kayak-Glad to hear you're doing so well! Get better soon!

Hiker-Thanks for starting the thread for the week. Thinking of walking and doing nothing else until that lat heals. Battling a cold/flu so hoping I can still do some walking with Mom.

TuTu-90! That's just wonderful! Hope he had a great bday!

Took my magnesium and hope it helps my muscle heal. I don't take my pain meds during the day if I can avoid it. Seem to be OK so far but usually meds are out around 7-8 and that's when I take them.

Down for the count gang.

Hope the rest of your evening goes well, AK.

Kayak is now having trouble with hives, et al.

Hi All!
Kayak-you've been in my thoughts! And everyone else with all of your injuries.

I'm headed to yoga this evening. Just did some shoveling. We got about a foot of snow. It's so cold and windy today.

Posted by hiker53 (Member # 6046) on :

lp--sorry you don't have the chair problem solved.

Again no exercise today, although I am counting being on my feet all day as exercise.

Monday-Today was Josh's bday, he turned 36! Puttered around the house today and then me and Mom took Josh out for Japanese food. Then we headed over to his place for the cake and ice cream that we brought.

We had a wonderful time together!

Still no exercise. My cold is a little worse but my lat muscle feels better. Yay!

TuTu-Poor Kayak just can't catch a break! I have an appt with my allergist on the 27th and intend to ask about the cromolyn sodium. Hope he'll prescribe it and it works for me too.

Dogs-Shoveling snow is quite the workout! Enjoy the yoga!

Kayak-I'm able to tolerate pain pills a little better since I'm taking all the antihistamines and stomach acid reducers. Take those pain meds while you can and I hope you have a speedy recovery!

Hiker-Egads! How can you stand being on your feet all day? That would be a killer for me. That's definitely exercise. Please rest your footsies. My feet were hurting now in sympathy. LOL!

Night gang!

Tuesday-No exercise and feeling worse. Went to my GP and am on Amoxi, Prednisone and some kinda expectorant. Coughing is killing my pulled lat. Already in bed and down for the count.

AK--I bet you have the horrible flu that is going around. Some of my students were out for over a week. Rest and get lots of fluids.

Long work day. I did not wear my knee brace today and am paying for it with pain. The brace is cumbersome and makes going up and down stairs hard. I will wear it tomorrow, though.

So, not walking again today outside, although my smartphone says I walk 1/2 mile just in the classroom.

Taking students to see the movie, Hidden Figures, tomorrow--I read the book and I bet the movie is great. It's about 3 black women who worked for NASA (and precursor to NASA called NACA) from WWII through the 1970's. They were mathematicians who deserve a lot of credit for the space program and didn't get that credit.

However, the stimuli of a large screen movie sets off my myoclonus, so the counselor is taking my place. Bummer. I will have to wait until the DVD comes out and I planned the whole field trip.

lp--You are home? I thought you were going to a rehab center for awhile?

Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :

SIGH... Sure wish you could get a break sometime soon.

So he's going to stay with you for awhile? I was afraid he was leaving when you got home.

At least he can clear SOME snow.

No words for more right now.

We had a nice day yesterday but we're both exhausted today. We saw "War Room" at church and then went out to eat.

The movie is so so good. I saw it two years ago but would love to see it more often just to motivate me!

LP--How can they deny rehab for you. Good grief. How will you sleep if your chair isn't fixed? I bet Etta is glad to see you, though.

Easy day at work. Tomorrow the tests and essays will come flying on to my desk.

Ran a couple of errands. Still not able to walk outside very far.

Wednesday-Felt better today so went and picked up a couple gallons of water and went to the mall with Mom.

We walked around the mall so I got some exercise today. We made payments at 2 stores then shopped around.

Unfortunately as the day progressed into evening I started to get some sinus pain and pressure.

Oh, I don't think I have the flu but Josh got it at school. Mine is upper respiratory infection. I dropped off some soups and OJ at his house and he told me to put it on the side door stoop. He waited til I backed away and then opened the door to get his get better items. He said he didn't want me to catch the flu. He's running a fever with aches and chills. 9 teachers and the principal along with numerous students were out or went home today. The flu is really bad down here.

Continued......

Hiker-Take care of that knee! I want to see that movie along with Fences. I bet they're awesome. Wish we could go together, that would be fun!

Kayak-I'm surprised you're home too! Glad your son is staying to help you. Little Etta must be super happy to see her mom. Being with family can be hard but you did just have surgery so please take care of yourself and ask for lots of help. I'm bad about asking for help, so don't make the same mistake please. Yay! Glad you're home and hoping for a speedy recovery!

TuTu-Seeing a movie and going out to eat is one of my favorite combos! Glad you and the hubs had a wonderful day.

Anyways gang, guess I'll turn in.

2 sick kids the last 3 days, but everyone is back to school today so I'm forcing myself back to the gym!!! It's always something I have to talk myself into...

Hope everyone stays healthy, there are some nasty bugs going around and sick on top of lyme is NOT fun!

hugs today.

Kayak .. So is he gone for the day .. or until next time? Hoping you are OK!!!

Hope you get some good rest.

I had Bible study this morning, then exercise, then PT .. whew!!

Home now and vegging a bit.

lp--How are you going to get to physical therapy if your son is gone? I assume you will have physical therapy.

AK--Glad you are feeling well enough to walk. If I walked at the mall I would end up spending money. LOL

Tutu--You had a busy day.

HW88--Hope you can stay well and keep going to the gym. So much going around the school where I teach. I pray I stay well.

Knee brace is rubbing, so it is a toss up whether I keep wearing it. I need to get back to exercising--hopefully this weekend.

Need to use my free coupon for a gluten free pizza as it expires tomorrow, so off to go pick it up and have a salad with it.

Thursday-Up around 9:00 then did a quick clean of the house. Done by 12 now I'm out of commission. Took a nap earlier which helped. Still not well and Josh is sick too. He's off for the next couple days.

Mom is having company so I spruced up the house for her.

HW-I'm hoping I can head back to the gym next week.

Kayak-Are you by yourself?! I hope not! I sure hope things get better.

TuTu-You've had a busy day! Vegging is my favorite part of the day.

Hiker-Mom bought a pair of boots and shoes. Then she bought a scarf for her and me. I have to watch my spending since I'm not working.

Waiting for my friend from Atlanta to call. We'll be on the phone for awhile. Hey, can I count that as exercise?

[Big Grin]

You are right kayak .. just take care of yourself as best you can. Tincup was talking about the print being smaller. I don't understand that because nothing has happened over here.

I see it just the same. It IS tiny when I use my phone, but I just enlarge it like you would do a photo. I hate being on LN with my phone. I rarely do that unless I'm traveling and need to check in.

AK .. hope you and Josh feel better soon. Yes, talking on the phone counts as exercise. I'm sure of it! [Big Grin]

Teacher meetings today, so had extra long lunch and got my grocery shopping done.

Saw a coyote on the cul-de-sac where I live. Look thin and scrawny, but still don't him/her hanging out here.

Back to work I go.

Hiker, I hope you stay well too. staying well as a teacher I'm sure is a challenge... come on spring!!!!

Went to the gym again, but my left leg is giving me trouble again.. sort of just drag it along... It thinks it can get a free ride or something.. sheesh.

We are having nice weather today. Hoping to go sit in the sun a bit. [Smile]

Wow .. a coyote... in the middle of town? A little worrisome since it could have rabies.

Where my father in law lives, there are tons of coyotes. It's even their high school mascot. We hear packs of them howling at night sometimes.

kayak.. Sounds like things are going way better than expected. Hats off to you!! Make sure you get the hours out of the helper.

HW.. take care of yourself!

I ran to the grocery store this afternoon for a chicken. I haven't gone there in almost two weeks because they were painting the place last time I was there.

I told them I would be back in two weeks! It was OK in there today. whew!

Friday-Drove about 40 minutes today to drop off taxes. Stopped for lunch then off to get a haircut. Love the cut and it's only $12.99!

Still feeling sickly though but taking generic dayquil and nyquil on top of RX seems to be helping. Not as stuffy but still have sore throat and kinda raspy sounding.

TuTu-I'm sensitive to paints too. Been like that since the 80's. I still paint but have to have good ventilation.

Kayak-So glad you have a great team to help you in your recovery! Are you doing OK on your own? Look at you, getting around and making your own lunch! You must be one tough cookie. Get better soon!

Hiker-Gotta watch those coyotes. We had packs where I used to live. Their howling was hauntingly beautiful. Even so, I was told by neighbors to be careful because they do attack. They used to get to close for comfort at night time so they're not shy.

HW-Way to go hitting the gym, bum leg and all! Leg could be faking it for attention though......

You guys are awesome! See you all tomorrow!

[group hug]

Busy day. I was exhausted and never caught up. Late today I realized the burning toxin is still on 2 chairs. That makes me sad. I changed my clothes and had sponge b$th but I am still itchy. Not sure what to do. Hope I figure it out tomorrow. Nite

Posted by hiker53 (Member # 6046) on :

Lp--You seem to be managing pretty well. Too bad about the chairs. Where are you sleeping?

AK--send me a pic of your new haircut. That's a great price.

Gorgeous day here in the 60's and sunny.

I walked for the first time in ten days. Only went 20 minutes, but it sure felt good to be out in the sunshine.

Winter has been pretty warm which is nice now, bug means more ticks and bugs later and not enough water for the corn crops.

Vacuumed the car again as it had salt from my shoes in it.

Time to do a few loads of laundry and read.

Another busy day with p t and 1 hour helper plus guy next door moved the van under carport.

No snow for 5 days but I want to be ready. Clearing snow off van hurts shoulder a lot plus I really can't do a good job and here they ticket you for snow on car

I am sleeping very deeply due to meds. I know what you mean. I really like it. But often fall asleep while typing...like now...hmmmm.

The house is looking way better and the list is getting shorter. I think im Getting better at managing workers

I found the will my sil wrote for me and texted about a typo and a change

I am sleeping in bed in bedroom with legs as high up as they go and head only a tiny way up so heart is below knees

I sleep well in here lowest emf of any room. But even tho sheets and nitegown is newly washed I am very itchy. I'm increasing zyrtec and pepcid but so far that just makes me more dry mouth. Not less itching

I have to start again with sorting itchy clothes out

Last night I think I walked 2400 plus steps. That is way more than I have since Christmas when I got my pedometer

Today PT said I could take benadryl for itching if I have to as long as I don't drive. So that might help

I need meds and supper and maybe a shower and for sure sleep.

I'm pretty satisfied.

Kayak .. please stop trying to remove snow. Please.

I'm so happy you found a place to sleep .. time may heal those chairs as they off-gas?

hiker .. hope you have a restful day tomorrow...are you off on Monday?

AK ..I wish I had my taxes done. I guess I should get started~!

We went to choir today and then drove to the city to see a high school jazz band competition. We only saw a few bands, but it was great.

Saw/heard a young girl that we knew play a sax solo in one band. She was about 12 when she was in the jazz band that my husband used to be in. They mentored young kids in playing jazz.

Then our local HS band was next and one of my husband's sax students played in that band. Really miss hearing good bands like we used to in Texas when hubby was a band director.

So .. we are both tired and just vegging out tonight.

See ya tomorrow! [hi]

Tutu!!!! I put van under carport so it doesn't get snowed on...that's a smart thing I'm doing!!!

I wish I had my taxes done too...good for you a k !

I had a good nap....and I found some things I need...I'm still unpacking

Posted by hiker53 (Member # 6046) on :

Tutu--I am off on Monday.

I am still waiting for 2 tax forms to come. I get ticked because they don't show up until midMarch and I want to get my taxes done earlier than that.

Jazz bands sound like fun.

Going to bed early tonight.

Kayak--Just let the snow melt. It should be warming up there soon.

Kayak, you were saying that clearing the snow hurt your shoulder so i thought you were clearing snow!

thank goodness you aren't !!

Saturday-Cleaned kitchen and did laundry from Mom's company. Mom and 2 friends went to Pensacola FL for the night and will be back sometime tomorrow.

Went to Josh's and we did back to back scary movies (sigh), 3 all together. Had pizza and chattered away like we always do. Home late, almost 2 a.m. and have to leave lamps on around house because I'm a big chicken.

Still have sore throat and my pulled lat muscle is hurting more from all the coughing. Guess it takes longer to heal the older I get.

Hiker-Wow, you had a busy day! Congrats on getting that walk in! I'll send you a pic tomorrow of my short pixie. I love it and the price!

Kayak-I do Children's Benadryl Dye Free sometimes when I overdo. Hate the taste, bubblegum, but doesn't make me sleepy. I should get some now because I'm taking pain pills and muscle relaxers everyday. Going to my GP again and will talk with her about sprained lat muscle. Also I'm going to talk with my Allergist about possibly letting me try Cromolyn Sodium. Hope you continue to do well in your recovery!

TuTu-Reading your post made me smile. I'd enjoy the jazz music myself and wish I could have been there. Sounds like such a wonderful day! I miss going to the Museum on jazz night by my old job. It's about an hour away so a little to far for me to travel since I'm not working at the moment.

Well gang.....guess I'll try to unwind after the horrorfest tonight. Might have to resort to going online and looking at kittens and puppies or doggie bloopers. That should do the trick!
