Are we ready for another rip-roaring week of exercise?

If you're doing laundry, gardening, housework, arts and crafts, walking, running, kayaking, horseback riding, weight training, etc. we'd like to hear about it on this super friendly thread.

Let's encourage one another to be as active as we can manage.

So, here we go........

[woohoo]

AK--Thanks for starting us off!

Did my PT exercises.

Since I did laundry yesterday, today was cooking day.

Checked medical portals for my parents. Saw dad has a CT scan coming up this week. Mom says she thinks the biopsy of his ear showed cancer, but she really didn't know.

I will call MD tomorrow but suspect the cancer is melanoma or squamous cell and they are seeing if it spread to the brain. Of course, my elderly parents do not ask questions. I am very worried.

Off to call my brother who, thankfully, is coming for a visit at the end of the week.

Thanks, AK!!

Hiker .. keep us posted. I sure hope your dad will be OK. How awful!!

I had a very busy day. I went with my masto friend and her husband to a big show, with our favorite comedian and all his antics and special guests.

We left 3 hours and 20 min later for another special show .. and HIS show was still going another hour after we left. Wow. We will probably buy the DVD so we can see the whole show.

We left to go see a very special performer and tell her goodbye. She is off to Nashville to go into the Gospel music industry.

She is an amazing singer and is somewhat famous already.

So .. back home to the mold. Contractor is coming tomorrow.

My friend who took the wedding photos for my masto friend was nearly killed in a car accident about one mile from our house on Friday.

I found out on Saturday. She broke her neck .. C7 .. broken rib and other various horrible bruises. I will go spend time with her tomorrow while her husband is at work. She just got home from the hospital today.

Her husband is also a musician and we've known them a long time. I even helped her get her green card about 17 years ago. (she's from Great Britain)

We will probably be out of our house all day .. he said it would take a long time. So I guess some of that time will be spent at our church.

I'm off to bed!! Gotta get up early.

Home PT and arm routine before heading to the wellness center with Mom. Danced around for about 35 minutes and had a blast. Then off to run a couple of errands.

Hiker I sure hope your Dad is going to be OK. Please keep us in the loop. Hope you have a great time visiting with your brother!

TuTu I'm so sorry about your friend having a horrible accident. I hope and pray that she has a speedy recovery.

Well....Off to veg!

I did my shoulder exercises twice. My nonsurgical shoulder (left shoulder) is very painful.

Hope I have not torn the rotator cuff in this shoulder! I don't think I could go through this surgery and rehab again. But it hurt to put the seatbelt on today as well as do exercises.

This shoulder had tendonitis a few years ago and I did therapy for it, so it isn't a great shoulder.

Went to chiropractor.

Called Md about Dad's skin cancer. Nurse said it was squamous cell which sometimes spreads, but isn't as bad as melanoma. His Ct scan is Th.

Rainy day here. Off to work on Bible study.

Went to Pt. Therapist modified exercises today so I didn't have to use the left shoulder. He said to rest it a few days. Surgical shoulder got a workout, though.

Did my shoulder stretches this afternoon.

Thought my passport was about to expire so went to the safety deposit box. Have 2 more years. Not that I have any trips planned like AK. [Wink]

Stopped at library on the way back.

Filled bird feeders. Lot of finches and other small birds visiting.

Resting now.

Did my shoulder exercises twice.

Went grocery shopping at Kroger to get organic meat and a few other items. Had lots of coupons. Will go to closer grocery for produce another day.

Joined a friend for lunch. Just went to Denny's for their grand slam meal. So rarely do I get eggs and bacon. [Smile] Sure enjoyed our gab fest.

Fueled up the car and gave all the windows a good cleaning.

Manna-how is the garden?

Hey gang!

We stayed at a motel on Monday and Tuesday night. Come home this morning.

I am still reacting here, but the AC ducts have not been cleaned out. We are still waiting for word from Serv Pro.

Going to an OCC meeting in the morning, then PT (traction) and then to a Christian movie.

Can't believe I missed a day! What's sad is could have sworn I posted yesterday. That's kinda scary.

Yesterday I did 20 minutes walking and 10 slow jogging on the treadmill.

Today was another super fun 30 minutes of Zumba dancing. Also home PT and arm routine. Josh gave me his old hand grips that you squeeze to build strength in your hands, wrists and forearms, so I added that today.

Later Mom and I headed to the commissary for some grocery shopping.

Hiker I sure hope your good shoulder is alright! Resting it is a great idea. Praying that your Dad's CT scan is OK! I used to love Denneys but ours went downhill so haven't been in a couple of years.

TuTu sure hope ServPro does the right thing! Traction therapy for the neck? That form of therapy helped me quite a bit. Enjoy the movie!

Off to veg gang!

Home PT and then I went to the Y for walking 20 minutes and slow jogging for 10 on the treadmill. Afterwards I cooked my joints in the sauna for about 15 minutes.

Afterwards I went and got my usual super short pixie that I love. It's a great haircut to have since I'm spending so much time at the gym and wellness center. Doesn't matter how much I sweat it looks fine.

It's only 2:45 and I don't know what to do. Hate to just veg so might try to find something constructive to do.

See everyone later!

I did my physical therapy exercises at home early this morning and then I went to physical therapy later.

Therapist spent most of the time stretching me out. He could see how much pain both shoulders were in. Told me to take tomorrow off totally and I only do my exercises once Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

Went to close grocery to grab produce and my prescription but forgot toothpaste. Oh well, I probably have 6 travel size I might as well use up.

Giving myself a little vacation getaway and drove about an hour to a hotel. Wish I had stayed with the king bed suite that had a couch but I downgraded myself to save a little bit of money. Feeling guilty.

I was hoping to get together with my friend that’s coming in from Seattle to Champaign but she’s not free tonight, so we’ll see if we can get together tomorrow and then I’ll go see my brother and my folks as well.

I have so many Panera gift cards left over from students who gave them to me when I was teaching, so I’m having a chicken salad for dinner. There’s free popcorn here at the hotel and cookies. May cheat on gluten free diet for one cookie.

Probably kick back and watch football and read tonight.

Had a busy week - pulling weeds in the flower beds and laying cardboard down to keep the weeds from returning so fast. Want to get a load of mulch to cover the cardboard.

Didn't get many flowers planted this year and with all the rains the weeds just took over.

Yesterday sonny picked the peaches off our tree in a pot. Several of them started to split. I wonder if the rain caused that? Anyway, they smell nice and peachy! We are letting them lay to ripen a bit more. They are small - but real peaches!

My row of summer squashes are producing - picked them twice so far. Got zucchini, yellow squash, patty pan, a round squash, a pale green/ almost white one, and a long one like the zucchini but with stripes along the sides. Sonny make a chocolate zucchini cake.

Dug two rows of red potatoes so far. This last batch they dug up had some nice big ones in compared to the first ones.

I pulled off a few stems from the out side of the celery stalks & chopped them up & froze them in snack sized baggies for adding to soups this winter.

Wow, hiker. The gift cards usually expire after one year. You better step it up a bit! [Big Grin]

AK .. Serv Pro is coming tomorrow. Keep praying.

Saw "Overcomer" this evening. It was awesome! I cried like a baby. Made me think of my masto friend who is not yet saved. She's trying, though. She had a very rough childhood and belonged to an abusive church when she was a kid.

I'm signing off... more work on the condo tomorrow. Our contractor couldn't get here yesterday.

Met my childhood buddy this morning. What a great time together. She is visiting her parents from Seattle.

My brother and I spent the day helping my parents with errands, finances, and computer issues.

Early dinner at retirement center and then I will drive the hour home.

Lots of walking but took the day off from shoulder exercises.

I think Serv Pro is concerned and will help us out. They must be afraid we will sue them. YEP .. be fearful!!

Hi everyone! Did my home PT, arm routine and some gentle ab work. Then me and Mom headed to the wellness center. I danced for about 30 minutes in my Zumba class and Mom did 28 minutes on the Nustep and walked two laps afterwards.

Yesterday I did manage to bake a gluten free zucchini bread, recipe provided by a friend. It's delicious! Also ordered my first gluten free pizza from Dominoes and ate almost the whole thing!

Hiker I'm so glad that you were able to meet your friend and spend time together! Bet you also enjoyed time with your family!

TuTu so glad you enjoyed the movie! And I agree about Servpro....they need to be afraid....very afraid!

Manna you must do organic gardening. I need to stop with the chemicals, especially weed killer. I've been spraying through the fence and killing brush in my neighbors yard that's taking over the property line. Also have trees growing right into our fence. It's driving me nuts. Really enjoyed reading about your gardening adventures!

Well....off to water the lawn and plants!

Yes, we do organic gardening - anything to help reduce the toxin load for my hubby. He has the MTHFR and doesn't detox well.

The farmer who farms the land around us isn't organic. He sprays his fields and leaves a little edge of unsprayed area next to our garden.

Picked up a bushel of peaches from my aunt this evening. Peach cobbler, sliced fresh peaches, peach dessert..... yummy!

Found two more kinds of squash in my patch, a white patty pan, the first was yellow, and a round yellow ball with dark green stripes in it. Never saw that kind before!

Manna .. I never knew the real name of the white squash. I grew up with that amazing squash!

It's great boiled, but AMAZING sliced horizontally and then fried like you would do green tomatoes.

We dipped the pieces in egg and then into cornmeal. YUMMY!

Manna—I grew zucchini last year but it turned out to be small round yellow squash. Lol

I did shoulder exercises this morning.

Ran two loads of laundry. Friends dropped by and remade my bed with clean sheets and folded sheets from dryer.

Then they took the tubs of clothes to the thrift shop for me. Also grabbed a few heavier groceries when they went shopping.

They will come back to help more with donations to charity another day. 😀

Watched Illini football. Nice to see them win.

Filled my brother in on dad’s CT results and he discussed them with dad. As I suspected Dad just wants cancerous growth removed from ear and no more follow up tests. If cancer has spread he doesn’t want treatment.

Filled bird feeders again.

Relaxing rest of day. Am worn out from yesterday.

My aunt grew the patty pan squash and shared the extras with us when I was still a girl at home.

I don't remember how mom cooked them, just that they weren't as good as they looked! I'll try the fried version - sounds delicious!

I wanted to try several kinds of squash but didn't want to buy so many different packets of seeds. So the one packet of mixed kinds was a winner!

We had 3 veggies from our garden for supper tonight. Yellow beets, zucchini, and swiss chard. I cooked the swiss chard like spinach and then served it with browned butter.

I like the flavor of the swiss chard even better than spinach. I like spinach. Both of these are better than kale.

I forgot to check the lima beans and the sweet corn.

Have a picnic supper invitation for tomorrow evening. I'm taking potato salad along and peppermint tea. I have the potatoes cooked and need to make the dressing yet.

At home PT then hit the Y for 30 minutes of treadmill time. Did 20 minutes in the sauna then home to do a few chores.

Manna you must work pretty hard in the garden. I usually cook kale but now I have to try Swiss chard. I bet all your fresh veggies are delicious!

TuTu your version of squash sounds so good! I'm not very talented when it comes to frying because I had a grease burn on my hand when I was 12. Down here if I'm lucky, I can find hoe cakes at a restaurant. Never knew you could fry cornbread like pancakes!

Hiker I'm so glad you have such wonderful friends to help you! BTW, I shared the news of your Dad with my Mom and she agreed that she wouldn't want further treatment either. Hugs to you my friend.

Well gang, I might try to squeeze in a movie before bedtime. Night all!
