Welcome to the month of March as we "march" forward with our exercise.

Tell us all about your movements this week. Are you walking, vacuuming, doing laundry, sewing, lifting weights etc?

We would love to hear from you.

Have a super week!! [hi]

Ak--How was Nashville and the wedding?

Tutu--What did you learn at your MCAS meeting yesterday?

Am nursing a slight sore throat, so did not go to church this morning.

I did run my car through the car wash and go to Kroger to stock up on sale items.

I did a load of laundry.

After I give my elderly mom a call, I will settle on the couch to watch Illini basketball and read.

Hiker .. If I could REMEMBER what was said at the meeting, I would tell you! HA!

We brainstormed about how to better educate emergency personnel and ways to be sure we are treated properly. I have never had grade 4 anaphylaxis, but I have been with my friend several times when she has had to go to the ER.

One of our members filed a complaint with one of the hospitals in the city and things have actually gotten better there. Too many doctors were refusing to look at the documentation that MCAS patients carry with them for such emergencies.

Nothing worse than being in danger of dying and not have doctors who take you seriously. Unreal. Some of our members have also taken info to fire stations and educated the EMS personnel.

I have heard some really bad horror stories.

We also had anonymous questions submitted and tried to answer those. There were some very good questions.

Then we had a game .. and being the teacher that I am, I won it. LOL... It was one of those lists that said to first read the whole page before doing anything. So I did .. and quickly saw that it said on the last line not to do anything.

So I won a MCAS T-shirt. It says, "The Devil whispered in my ear 'You're not strong enough to withstand the storm.' Today I whispered in the Devil's ear 'I am the Storm.'" Mast Cell Activation Syndrome Warrior.

Forgive my punctuation....that was wild. lol

Hi all! Got back last night around 10:00 from Nashville. Between traveling to Savannah and Nashville back to back, I'm sore and exhausted! Ended up taking pain pills and muscle relaxers last night which unfortunately flares up my MCAS. Drats!

So I'm swollen a bit today but still have SI joint pain probably aggravated from dancing away at the wedding reception and all the driving. 4 hours to Savannah then 6 hours to Nashville. Ugh...my aching back!

Hiker thanks for starting us off for another week! Today I'm doing laundry from both trips so have quite a bit to do. I hope you're not getting sick! I've been sneezing a lot lately and had a stuffy nose but could be a regional thing. Hoping I'll be better since I'm home.

TuTu that t-shirt sounds awesome! I worry about having to go to the ER too. I didn't know anaphylaxis had stages! I better read up on that. My doc never explained that to me. I just carry my Auvi-Q pen and he gave me Prednisone to take during an episode. So far I haven't used it yet. I get bouts of anaphylaxis but so far have come out of them. Usually vinegar is the culprit for me. My throat closes up immediately. One time I ate vinegar based barbecue sauce and started coughing. It sure scares me. The worst bout was before I had a pen and it paralyzed my vocal chords also.

Well guys, think I'll lay down since my back is giving me fits. See you all later!

Ak--Sounds like you had a good time.

Tutu--great t-shirt

Sore throat better today.

Today I walked outside 20 minutes and then did my balance exercises and stretches for legs.

I cleaned the refrigerator. I hadn't done in it over a year due to my shoulder problems. At some point I need to clean the freezer part of the refrigerator and then the oven.

Did a bit of cooking.

Need to get the garbage and recycling out and then relax a bit.

AK—so thankful you are back from Nashville. Praying for those hit by the tornado.

Started back at PT this morning for my shoulders. The therapist, Charlotte is the same one who help me with my balance therapy and I really like her. She’s approaching my tendinitis from a postural standpoint.

Because my shoulders roll forward and I have bad posture she feels that puts more pressure on my rotator cuffs. and my tendons. So we’re going to start slow with exercises to work on that poor posture.

I will only do my exercises every other day on the days that I don’t do my balance exercises. I will see her twice a week for a month and then get reevaluated by the orthopedic doctor. Then will deal with the bad knee.

I am heading to the chiropractor soon. It’s nice and sunny and warm out but the winds are over 40 mph. I made the mistake of not using my walking stick or trekking poles to go into physical therapy and had a hard time walking to my car afterwards. 🤣

Have a great evening.

Wow, hiker .. you guys get so much wind!! If it's over 15 mph here, we consider it to be a windy day. [Smile]

I have the same problem with my shoulders. We need to chat about the exercises. I'm wondering exactly which ones are for posture. It would help me to focus on the main ones.

So glad you are back from Nashville, AK! I had another friend who was there just a few days ago. One of my favorite entertainers here has a home in Nashville. He and his family are OK too.

And another friend has a daughter there at Belmont. Looks like a really strong tornado.

I went to Bible study today at church, had a discussion afterword at church, then came home to assist my housekeeper. I can't say I did very much! Nice to have everything clean again.

She came over with very scented hand lotion, but I asked her to wash it off and it helped. I also opened the windows. Hopefully, she won't forget next time.

Fragrances are about to do me in over here.

My pain levels are also very high and I know the two issues are related. It's nearly impossible to bounce back from things like this. At least that has been my experience over the past few years.

Feeling better today so did a little SI joint stretches and ran errands. My Mom and I went to another local university's school of music performance at the planetarium. They also had a guest artist who did the accompanying artwork on the dome. We had a blast!

You guys aren't kidding about missing the tornado! Praying for the families in Nashville!

Hiker I'm with TuTu about the posture exercises. My posture wasn't great to begin with before my shoulder surgeries but afterwards it's gotten much worse. My whole upper body has gone down the toilet due to needing a couple more surgeries. Need one for my shoulder and for my sternoclavicular joint. Putting those off as long as I can.

TuTu what is it with the scents? Sometimes things bother me and sometimes they don't. The only thing I can think of is maybe histamine levels vary. When I'm fasting I feel awesome. Sleep better, super calm, little to no reactions to my typical triggers. It's really depressing but I feel so much better if I don't eat. I do have organic chicken broth, juices, tea, coconut water and tons of water though while fasting. Ugh....wish they can figure out what is causing MCAS.

Time to veg! Getting my haircut at 9:00 so will try to unwind.

Night gang!

I did balance exercises and a lot of stretching this afternoon.

Went grocery shopping. No coronavirus here so shelves well stocked.

Went to the library.

Heading to church tonight.

Sheesh...my SI joint is flared up and have been on pain pills and muscle relaxers since Sunday night. Course I only take half at a time and all together it's just one each but even then it flares up my MCAS.

Went out and ran more errands today with Mom thinking that walking around might help but had issues getting in and out of the car.

So just stretching my SI joint and errands today. Did make my Mom some pancakes and bacon for breakfast. I'm fasting so I had a lovely carrot juice, almond milk and hemp seed protein powder drink. LOL!

So I might veg for the rest of the day. See everyone tomorrow!

Ak--Sorry to hear about the SI joint.

I did my new shoulder exercises this morning. I only have 2, so it didn't take long. Probably will get more tomorrow when I go to the PT clinic.

I went to Bible study. Got a good laugh when the leader showed an old "Veggie Tales."

I did my balance exercises and leg stretches this afternoon.

Opted out of a walk as 40 mph wind gusts again and I could barely walk to my car from the church this morning.

AK .. that dancing is killer, huh? Hope you feel better soon!

We had the Bible study at my place today because they are putting new roofs on our buildings. There are 3 buildings and we usually have our meeting in the last bldg. They were hammering away over there today.

So bldg 2 tomorrow and ours on Saturday. So hubby and I need to find something to do! We MIGHT go see a movie. I saw The Call of the Wild is here.

Someone wore scented hand lotion to our study and it was awful for me. I didn't say anything but wow. I was having trouble reading out loud and even thinking. I put a box fan on afterward and blew it out the window. Thank goodness for a nice sunny day with low humidity.

Hiker .. We had 17 mph winds (maybe it got up to 20, not sure) but it was WINDY to me! [Smile]

I didn’t sleep well last night as the wind kept waking me up. So I slept in a bit today.

I made some gluten-free muffins this morning.

I went to physical therapy and got two more exercises to stretch my shoulders and work on my posture. The therapist used cold ultrasound on my shoulders and it felt so good.

My teacher friend is coming over tonight so I’m sure we’ll have a good gab session. And eat burritos. 🤣

They will be working on our roof tomorrow at our condos. So far, they have been able to do one bldg each day. I'm hoping they will finish tomorrow with ours.

So we will be out all day. MIGHT be able to return in the afternoon. They say the worst part is when they take the old roof off, but I must say I HEARD the nail guns from next door and it was epic.

Thank goodness I am on the bottom floor of three.

I had thought I could go to a movie, but then remember there are PEOPLE there. LOL.

Hubby is going up to church to work on stuff, but I'm not sure about the fragrances there. They cleaned today. No telling what will be there.

Just stretching the old SI joint today. Worked on my resume today. Then out to run a couple errands. Afterwards my Mom and I walked around an indoor flea market for a couple hours. So that was my exercise for the day.

Off to bed....it's 3:04 in the morning!

[sleepy]

Ak--Hope you find the right job for you!

Tutu--Did you find a hangout spot while the roof was being redone?

Picture perfect day here: sunny, 50 degrees, and only a light wind.

I went for a 20 minute walk to warm up my legs.

Then I did my balance exercises and stretching along with a couple of knee strengthening exercises.

I also did my new shoulder exercises.

Decided to go to local café/bakery again for a cup of coffee and a chocolate chip cookie. There is always a group of elderly men there who come over to chat and refill my coffee cup. Got a letter written while I was there.

Plan to sit and read and perhaps watch a little TV tonight.

Sounds great, hiker!! (the cafe)

We went to church this morning, then ate lunch and came home.

I did run an errand or two.

I was less than a mile from home and my transmission began having trouble. I decided to stop and call hubby. The car felt hot (from the hood) and I could smell burning.

So hubby came and drove it home. He parked it at the bottom of our hill because he could tell that it might not make it UP!

So .. the many joys of life....

My car only has 80,000 miles on it.

OH .. PS .. We were at home when they did what we had heard was the noisiest part, taking the shingles off.

So we decided it wouldn't be too loud to come back home. We both fell asleep this afternoon. I slept for about 2 hours.

AK .. I hope you had a good day!!

More SI joint stretches and ironed some sweaters that I had washed and hung to dry. Made my Mom breakfast and also sauteed her some shrimp for dinner.

Ran some errands and shopped around at a thrift store and found a pair of Talbot's jeans and a brown herringbone blazer. Score!

Took some dinner over to Josh who's coming down with a cold or something. I wore a mask over there and he talked to me through his window. I left his food and some thrift store clothing items on his stoop. Told him to call me if he starts to run a fever, etc. so that I can take him to the ER or something.

It was a beautiful day here also but still too damp to do yardwork. With my SI joint bothering me I might just pick up some tree limbs tomorrow.

Hiker that coffee and cookie sounds awesome. I've been drinking coffee regularly since my trip and hope to cut down. The caffeine makes me hyper and jittery sometimes. Cookies, thank God have no ill effect! LOL!

TuTu oh no! I hope that your car is repairable and it doesn't cost to much to fix it. I think my car has 140,000 miles on it and it's still driving ok. My clear coat is coming off in little strips though and getting all over our yard. In fact today I was out there picking them up. So the plan is to take my car to a body shop on Monday. Hope and pray it's an inexpensive fix.

See everyone tomorrow!
