..This is the age old question...I am in the midst of a relationship with a girl that is lyme negative..I cant tell you how scary it is for me to have sex..I actually find myself trying to avoid it, if you can believe that...She has only known me for six months and did'nt see me at my worst , so she has no idea what lyme is all about..I gave her all the information..took her to my llmd...and we talked about it..(My llmd believes it is possible to transmit by kissing as well...) We have protected sex..but its difficult for me to relax and enjoy it, because i would feel terrible if i passed on. The last thing i want to do is add another number to the lyme club....
I will tell you all this, being single and celibate may sound like a loosing deal, but it is more comforting to be single , than worrying about infecting someone you care about..It is a double edge sword, you dont want to be alone, but being with someone is stressfull in ways you dont think about until you get there..i am finding that being in a relationship is more than i want to deal with...i can handle the lyme on my own, just fine...not sure i could deal with it if i passed it on to someone else..those with multi lyme families i have all the respect for you...i just want to avoid it if i can... and if it means being single, than so be it...
So to those of you that are stressed out about being single...I say enjoy it, take the time to see friends and family, do your own thing and concentrate on your health.. It would seem that having someone new in your life would take the bite out of having lyme, but for me that hasnt been the case....greg
