Does anyone know if there is any current or ongoing research on whether Lyme disease in an elderly patient can seem to mimick Alzheimers or any similar "elderly" debilitating condition? My dad has had an initial diagnosis of Alzheimers but I believe he shows some of the classical advanced Lyme disease symptoms. Thanks

Don't know about research on it, but I have read several stories where this was the case.

Maybe someone will come along with the answer. I'll look in my files. There was a case where someone got IV therapy for their mom and the "Alzheimer's" was GONE after 6 wk of treatment. Later the woman died, but her family was blessed by the lucid 6 wks she had.

Don't know about *studies* but if I had an elderly family member with diagnosed Alzheimer's (and who was willing) I'd sure put them on abx --- IF I had the control necessary to do so.

I think I'd even *sneak* it into their food, if their doctor wouldn't go for it. (Am I just kidding? Maybe. )

Hypothetical?--- if they had a life threatening or untreatable disease what would be the harm?

Reading the medical journals---- there are cases being presented more and more that abx can *help* with all kinds of illnesses.

Of course, you and I know that maybe they just had Lyme disease all along, mimicing right and left.

Hypothethically speaking.

But don't take MY word for it.
