Just wondering what works best for others with yeast. I have used all three and Culturelle seems to work best for me.

Candex gives me tummy pain, so I stopped using it. Anyone else have that problem?

If anything works well for you, I would appreciate knowing.

Also, Diflucan is a good yeast fighter for me.

I'm looking for different varieties that work so I can alternate!

Thanks for any help.

Robi,

Yes, that was me, and I am very much interested in your low carb coleslaw recipe. I made your chicken...delicious!

I will try your suggestions for probiotics, as I need a change. I also take PB8 and have for years just like Lymetoo, and feel it's time for a change.

Lymetoo,

I have used Culturelle and found it works very well so far. Just started using Primal Defense but daily intake of that is 3 daily, whereas with Culturelle, you can get by with one.

Can't figure out why Candex gives me tummy pains??? So, I'm putting that aside...maybe later.

Thanks for the input.

Candex gave me stomach distress as well. The Pearls cause me to break out in hives. So far, I have found that Primal Defense and another good refrigerated probiotic mix works best. I take the PD in the AM and the other at bed time. I change my probiotics every few months.

The Ultra Flora Plus is awesome, if you can handle it. It is expensive and is 7 billion of each strain. It eventually gave me diarrhea - just a little too strong in one capsule.

I think I am taking DDS right now with Primal Defense. It is the one recommended by wholeapproach.com.

I have tried every probiotic you can think of and the winner by a wide margin was/is

Healthy Trinity by Natren. www.natren.com

It is expensive but works exceptionally well as far as probiotics go. It is 3 superstrains of good bacteria that are more resistant to being killed off. The way its processed and the delivery mechanism is different also.

You can buy it at Vitamin Shoppe stores for less than at most health food stores (can't get it online because the company is so picky about temperature and handling of product)

I'm going to try and see how I can get a case for a discounted price otherwise I'll end up trying to culture it with goat yogurt...

oooops! Sorry, CORRECTION: you CAN get healthy trintiy online....

but at a higher price than what I had paid before. Also, a little goes a long way with this probiotic...

Hey Lifeline..

GiGi put this up a while ago, just ordered mine.

You can also get volume, and use the 'extender kit' to treat land and gardens..

it's supposed to also be great inside the body for healthy colonization of a whole society of good bacteria.

I have to find GiGi's post, but I think she said they take a tblsp morning and night..

Fantastic sight here with lots of products, here is the page for

Efficient Microbes:

Where do you buy the Culterelle?

I've been taking the EM [Efficient Microbes] for about 5 months now. Not sure it's helped with yeast any, but it keeps me regular!

On a side note....the EM keeps my body odor to a zero and I no longer use deodorant!!!

I've been off aluminum-containing deodorants for about 4 yrs now and the deodorant I used was pretty mild. But now I don't use ANY! No one has complained yet!!

beachcomber,

It's odd that Candex would cause tummy problems...sorry to hear you had the same...I will check out DDS by wholeapproach.

pippy,

I've never heard of Healthy Trinity, but will check that out as well. I plan on switching from time to time...good to have ideas.

Glad to know you can buy it online as that is where I shop for suppl/herbs mostly. No tax and very little S/H if you purchase a set amount (different for each site).

Mo,

You know, I think I did read some time back about Efficient Microbes. I don't see how it could work, but it must do a pretty good job if GiGi uses it. She is pretty knowledgeable. Thanks for the site.

Lymetoo,

I buy Culturelle at Walgreens, although, I have to call first and then they order it. Only takes a few days. CVS doesn't have it here, although, I think some do.

Walgreens is pretty good about ordering things for you. Here it cost about $18.00 on sale for a box of 30, which it was today for some reason. Mostly, it runs $20.00...did last time, anyway.

I don't use aluminum deodorants, either, and use Tom's of Maine, which is a natural deodorant made with Aloe, Lichen and Coriander. I only use unscented...can't take any scents/odors since Lyme. (which is too bad because I have some wonderful perfumes which just sit on the shelf now!)

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Hey beachcomber...you'd better put a grin when you say something like that! I might take it personally!

Really, I don't stink! I had noticed I didn't have any body odor and couldn't figure out why. I thought it was because the Xango had cleared all the toxins. [probably is a factor]

But then I happened to read the insert that comes with the EM and it said something about using this for odor control in animals!

Well....I'm an animal!

Linda...after awhile I got used to a little bit of moisture. And now I can't say that I ever feel like I need an anti-perspirant anymore.

I have worn it when going out for a party or something. But I swear I don't stink!!

Beachcomber is in big trouble!

Linda,

I really don't have a clue what you could use as an antiperspirant, but some years back, I did hear of something like a crystal. Looks like an almost transparent rock.

I knew a few girls that have used it and they say it works, although, I don't know the ingredients.

Sorry I can't help more.

Long story short, over 2 years of abx took a toll on my GI system. I have spent many many hours for days on end searching about yeast, its effects, and methods to battle it.

Without getting to much into the details, I landed on the following supplements.

VSL3-
Super expensive! However there are 450 BILLION buggers per sachet. (most probiotics have around 10 billion). Each sachet is about $2.50 and I'm working my way up to 3, maybe 4 a day (at least for the short term). Started taking this about 3 weeks ago. Definate effects for me. Many CONTROLLED published studies on the effects of this probiotic is what made me spend the money.

A.M.P. Molocure-
Super Expensive. Lots of Published studies on normalizing the gut lining.

Florastor -
Expensive. A YEAST! There are hundreds of species of yeast, and this is non pathogenic, competing for gut lining real estate. There are beneficial yeasts in Kefir. Dozens of PUBLISHED clinically controlled studies. I have not started this supplement yet, but thinking about it.

Much of my research in this area is simular to lyme. People struggle for many many years spending thousands and thousands of dollars over time. I am lucky enough to be able to afford these products, and have decided to go with the products that have shown results in blinded controlled studies. As for everything else, its mostly hearsay. Sometimes you'll get lucky, mostly you won't.

Noodlydoo

Full Disclosure: Zero financial interest in any of these entities.

I have that in roll-on. Got it at the health food store. 1-800-829-ROCK www.thecrystal.com

It's not an anti-perspirant though.
