So...just back from my local Lyme sypport group. We had a lyme literate holistic MD speak tonight about alternative treatments.
He is very keene on ozone therapy whereby you buy an ozone/steam sauna, and use it 25 min a day for 3 weeks.
He states ozone has been used for 50 years in Europe and there is tons of scientific data showing its effectiveness at curing lyme and many many other diseases.
Only problem..the sauna's cost like $4000.
But...he seemed to indicate many of his patients have gotten completely better on it...this was after the patients had failed to get well or relapsed on other treatments.
He also mentions some of the big, well known LLMD's indicate all of their patients who do ozone were "doing extremely well" (although none of them prescribed it.)
Just looking for some experiences from people who may have tried it. He says it isn't as good as Bionic 880, but will cost much less and is better than rife.

I did some oZone Saunas during my intensive integrative treatment. I integrated it as part of my detox program. The problem for me was I had a hard time tolerating the heat of it. I got very nauseaous and sick.
So I did not more than a few total. I had much better luck with the Cold Laser lymph treatments I was getting that did ton of good after getting through the first few weeks of huge detoxing.
I am not sure why they would say it would be so "curative" but i think it would be more of something you could try for detox like infared sauna. But no more.
I also did Ozone Blood Irradiation with UVB too a few days a week for months. That helped but again putting the puzzle together with these therapies is more how it works and not one single things does "the trick" from what I have experienced or heard or seen ...

THey say it is curative because the ozone kills bugs...it also does something (can't remember) which helps boost immune system. Very high kill factor.
I've been googling around and found this site which seems to have similar info on what I heard tonite (bottom of the page)

I just saw a video on YouTube about ozone insufflation.
It sounds preferable to an ozone sauna. I wonder if anyone on this forum has tried it.

I'm doing ozone right now in addition my meds. I have to say that I've been really inconsistent about it until recently. I have a home made set up. I bought a portable steam sauna on Ebay. then I bought an ozone generator and a medical oxygen machine (also on Ebay). You connect the ozone to the oxygen machine to make pure ozone, then run tubing from the ozone generator into the sauna through a little hole you make in the side of the sauna.
Originally I got a steam sauna w/the steampot, but I didn't really like that method. The steam pot rigging didn't get into the sauna very well, so it sat unused. Then I met a naturopath who told me that I didn't have to have heat, that I could just sit in the sauna with the ozone on and it would work just fine. So I tried that, and it was ok, but I still wanted to have some heat, so then I found a portable infrared heater on Ebay, set it up in the sauna and ran the power cord through a hole in the sauna.
So now I turn on the heater, turn on the oxygen machine and the ozone generator and sit in there as long as I can tolerate it. If I get too hot, I get out and turn off the heater. I started at about 15 minutes, but now am up to about an hour. I'm trying to do it every day, but sometimes I get busy and miss a day.
It definitely makes me herx, but as I keep going the herxes are becoming smaller.
I've also done insufflation. Primarily of my ear because it's easy and I think there are a lot of bugs in my brain and this gets a larger dose of the ozone closer to the brain. I don't have any special apparatus for the ear, so I just cup my hand and put it over my ear, while holding the tubing between my fingers.
I've also insufflated vaginally and rectally, but haven't done that in a long time because quite frankly, I just don't feel comfortable doing it, but since I feel like the ozone is really helping me, I've been thinking more about adding that in.
With the ozone generator you can also ozonate water to drink, and I've done that, but also not for a while.
I can't take credit for the set up. I learned it from another person who used to post here. Her handle was Orion, and she happened to live near me, so she let me try hers and showed me how to set it up.
The whole set up, all bought on Ebay cost well under $1000. I don't think you have to buy an oxygen machine, but it's supposed to make a more concentrated ozone, so you can add that if you have the money. The ozone generator should be one that has an inlet for the oxygen to enter the generator and an outlet for the ozone to flow out.
After getting out of the sauna, you should bathe to get the toxins/ozone out/off of your skin.
When I first re-started doing the ozone, a treatment would make me start herxing really strongly and I'd have to go to bed, but tonight I was in there for an hour, and I felt pretty good when I got out and didn't have to go straight to bed.
I know that some will say that the portable saunas shouldn't be used because the ozone will react with the material, etc., but Orion used it and she credited it w/getting her well. It's a much less expensive way to go if you can't afford to go with one of the more expensive set ups.
