I am currently taking Rifampin (for Bartonella) and started doxy for Lyme. My NP wants me to add in Flagyl, but I think it is in Dr. B's manual not to take a tetracycline drug w/ Flagyl. Before I get that prescription filled wanted to get some input from others.
Originally I was supposed to take plaquenil but had a bad reaction starting the 3 drugs so closely. Now my NP is feeling like the rifampin, doxy and flagyl would be a better combo. I was planning on waiting a little while to see how I do on the Rif and Doxy before adding the Flagyl, but now questioning if Doxy and Flagyl should be taken together? ANyone take those drugs together or know anything about why Dr. B advises not to?

I don't have an answer for you, but it would explain why our LLMD took my daughter off of Flagyl when he switched my daughter to Doxy last week.
She also takes Rifamphin for bart.
I hope someone can answer this question. Anybody??

I just finished 4 months of flagyl, minocycline and biaxin and it was an effective combo for me. I know another patient on the same regime who also found it effective.
Can't comment on Dr B's guideline on this though.

I have done well with flagyl and doxy and am taking that combination currently. At the ILADS conference Dr Sapi PhD not LLMD showed that this combination works better than others to break up lyme/Borrelia in Biofilms. I have also taken flagyl and clarithro, flagyl and zithro, even flagyl and Amox. For me clarith or doxy with flagyl worked better than Amox with flagyl.

Thank you Beachinit...how did you feel on the combo of flagyl and doxy? I will also be on Rifampin when I add in the Flagyl in a couple of days. Glad it was effective for you!
