I was diagnosed with childhood benign epilepsy, tic disorder, ADD, generalized anxiety disorder, chronic gastritis, IBS, lactose/food intolerances, ocular migraines, TMJ, and mild scoliosis (obviously not caused by Lyme, but it was blamed for the back pain).

Other things that might be related are iron deficiency anemia and vitamin D deficiency.

They could never figure out a diagnosis to explain the joint pain, fatigue, and brain fog.

Diagnosed with chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, peripheral neuropathy, ocular migraines, neuromas, hypothyroid -

checked many times for MS and diabetes.

And don't forget the ever popular diagnosis of "it's all in your head. You must be stressed."

20 years ago, after telling me the results of my first MRI on my head, the doctor actually patted me on the head and said, "Don't worry, it's just your nerves." He was talking down to me and saying there was nothing wrong. He didn't know how right he was - it IS my nerves. Nerves attacked by spirochete critters.

possible lupus, rhuematoid arthritis , ricketts, allergies, chronic fatigue syndrome, african sleeping sickness, depression, GAD, pregnancy, acid reflux, pituitary tumor...

one doctor diagnosed me as bi-polar when i told him that i have a few okay days, and then a few really bad days. my therapist assured me i was definitely NOT bi-polar... surprise!!!

at my last appointment when i asked for a diagnosis, but llmd said "i don't know, ecoli" ... yes, i have had ecoli for over 8 years, and have no symptoms of it... that makes sense! *rolls eyes:

Paryting too much. I was in college, and the doctor assumed I was fatigued all the time because I was always out partying, which I wasn't because I was fatigued all the time. I maybe got out once a week and drank about a quarter of what everyone else did.

Somatization Disorder.

In general, I was considered to be a hypochondriac even though I never was asking for meds.

Tendonitis, Thyroid related problems which turned out to be cancer, migraines, vasculitis, perifial neuropathy and after multiple lesions on brain and spine, MS was being considered as the next Dx , although lesions were atypical.

First they kept telling me I had some sort of virus although no one knew what virus that would be.

Then after that I was told I had Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome and then I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

7 years later I tested positive for Lyme and company.

--------------------
Sick since 10/2001. Tested CDC positive for Lyme 10/2008 through Quest and Igenex. Started treatment 1/2009 with LLMD. Lyme, Erichilosis, Chlamydophila Pneumoniae, Q Fever, Strep Syndrome and probably a few others I am forgetting.

Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis (because of my consistently elevated rheumatoid factors), Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

But most of my symptoms, when I persisted with doctors in finding a diagnosis, were blamed on depression, anxiety, OCD, suspected anorexia nervosa, hypochondriasis ("it's all in your head"), or my favorite..."suspected schitzophrenia".

No diagnosis. When I asked if my symptoms could be Lyme, my MD simply said, "Oh you wouldn't want Lyme" and sent me out the door.

It took two more visits and nine months after first getting sick when he did an ELISA and it was positive.

In retrospect, I don't know why I stayed with him for a few years. There were probably no LLMDs here in 1992 and the concept was unknown to me.

I was first diagnosed with sinusitis, then Meniers Disease, then advised that an unk. viral infection caused my hearing problems. I was finally diagnosed (clinical diagnosis, Lyme tested negative) with Lyme by my PCP, who specializes in Infectious Disease.

I went to my primary care doctor and she looked right in my face and told me I was depressed and to go on antidepressants and go for more walks.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. ya. okay. I had a positive lyme test she kept telling me it wasnt "active lyme"

I then went to an allergist who diagnosed me with a rare form of "chronic sinusitis" because I didnt have any discharge just pressure all around the sinuses. I took flonase for a week and it did NOTHING so i stopped

Rheumatologist was stumped. Only thing she could suggest was fibromyalgia so she gave me a panphlet on it. Although my fibromyalgia trigger point test was TOTALLY negative

I must have went to the ER like 15 times. I even went to the best hospital in my state. and they told me I had a virus and to go home sleep and drink plenty of fluids. HAHAHA. YA A 3 MONTH VIRUS RIGHT? ohhh boy.....

I think we all get misdiagnosed.
