Hi is there anyone here who has been diagnosed with lyme disease but does not have the common joint pains or fevers? My symptoms are more neurological. Very bad short term memory, twitching everywhere. Congestion, eye floaters etc... But I have no pain in joints or fevers. Sometimes I feel sharp stabbing pain in my head but no pain in joint or bones as others have described it.

I never had joint pain or fevers.

I had extreme muscle weakness, lots of dental pain, horrendous fatigue, insomnia, dry eye, dry mouth, false menopause, stiff or sore neck, lots of headaches, choking on my own saliva, etc. etc.

I understand that those who are genetically prone to arthritis are the ones who get the sore and swollen joints.

It's the IDSA that thinks of lyme more as joint problems. Sure, joint problems are often a serious part of lyme but only for SOME lyme patients.

Rather than the the kind of arthritis kind of lyme that the IDSA seems stuck on, the kind of joint problems are often very different, affecting tendons / collagen tissue rather than the actual joint bone, itself. Although, with lyme, any body structure, organ or function can be affected.

Most late or chronic lyme patients really have more of the neurological, cardiac and vestibular manifestations, etc. Also, any system can become affected - and symptoms also often seem to rotate from time to time, or even day to day.

Far beyond just how to suspect lyme, the first article below could also be used as sort of "owner's manual" - a "A Glimpse at the Land of Lyme" - at least in explaining a lot of what happens to a the body of lyme patients.

I never had the joint pain or swelling or fevers until recently when I started to get knee pain if sitting too long.

I've had bone pain, not joint pain along with muscle aches.

I have night sweats occasionally, but no fever.

I don't have joint pain or fevers. I do have a swelling behind my left knee but it's not painful. I get backaches from time-to-time but I wouldn't classify those as joint pain.

I've often wondered the same thing so thanks for asking!

I haven't had a single fever since around the suspected time of bite. My average body temp tends to be 97 and never goes above 99. I think my immune system has lost the ability to create a fever. Don't know if this is normal for Lyme but I have heard of it happening to chronic fatigue patients (I was never diagnosed with CFS).

Low body temperature is common with lyme. I vaguely remember hearing of people that were going to Europe or Mexico to deliberatly get Malaria in order to evoke a high fever to kill the spirochete.

This is from memory (which is bad!), so I could be wrong about the country and the disease, but the point is, they deliberately caught something to achieve a high fever, in an attempt to rid themselves of lyme.

So, your body gets altered (perhaps by thyroid disfunction), so that you won't get a fever. I only had one fever in the past 10 years, which was from strep throat.

I have LOTS of joint cracking, but usually no pain. My symptoms are mostly muscular and cognitive/fatigue.

amk33, My body temperature is always low. Nurses usually try a second thermometer because they think the one they're using is broken, lol. I've only had 1 fever in many, many years.

"twitching everywhere" can be magnesium deficiency, very common with lyme.

About Floaters, be sure to check in with your eye doctor to be sure the vitreous matter in the eye is in good shape.

You can research Floaters to learn more but ANTI-OXIDANTS are very important to help minimize typical floaters.
