Dear Borrelia Buddies, Tuesday, I went to see the new OB/GYN. Since it was the first appointment, I only saw the nurse practitioner. She was nice and listened. My annual exam was well overdue, so we got that out of the way. To my surprise, it was the quickest and least painful one I have ever had.
The thing that concerns me is she feels I need birth control pills and more estrogen. Does anyone else feel that this is completely wrong and detrimental? I do not want to be argumentative, but even low-dose pills like Alesse seemed to make the cysts worse. Am I off base here, or are they? The ultrasound was going to be more than we can afford right now, so I have to schedule it soon after this upcoming cycle is over.
I still have an appointment with the low-income OB next month. I am going to see if they could do an ultrasound. This could save some money. The nurse practitioner also wanted me to go on Diflucan, noting the yeast overload. I told her I think I am too fragile for that right now. My mother got very ill from it, and now I realize she was probably herxing. Any little thing causes me to herx, and I do not think my body can handle anymore of that.
A few things I have been eating had yeast lately, so I need to stop that from now on. It is back to pancakes and unleavened crackers for a while. I just got some new supplements. Thorne Research's Bio-Gest, then their Adrenal Formula, and Health From The Sun's Evening Primrose Oil. Could anyone offer dosages? The EPO is 500 mg. softgels. Any help is greatly appreciated. Meanwhile, Lotramin and I are going to be best friends.

Dear Lymetoo, The crackers and pancakes have only baking powder or soda. I only am able to eat whatever my father buys, and he says we cannot afford organic meat, dairy, etc. He argues with me about everything. Explain how we can afford $54 cartons of cigarettes each week, but not healthy food. I need to destroy the yeast, but going low on the carbs is dangerous with my low blood sugar.
It seems all of the dietary issues conflict each other! I am 28 years-old. I had five ovarian cysts in less than a year as a teenager, and these issues run in our family. The birth control pills made it worse. So, they put me on Depo-Provera. It helped rid me of the anemia and miserable cramps for several years. However, Dad saw the side effects and was convinced that it caused my nausea. I have always had the issue, even prior to going on the shot.
I went off of the shot in December of 2009. The menstrual issues are worse than they have ever been. Nausea is debilitating, as are the excruciating labor-like pains induced by the periods that come every ten days. My mother, her sister, both of my grandmothers, all of Mom's cousins, and a one cousin on my father's side have had hysterectomies due to similar issues. Yes, I also am aware that Lotramin is a band-aid. When you have systemic yeast, you must isolate the cause in the intestines. You know how doctors are, though.
