i don't know if ins will pay for a 2nd opinon

i have had these big black flaoters since i started clind last nov

i told llmd and he didn't seem concerned

i've had floaters for 20 yrs but they re white or sparkly and circles or kete shaped. these black ones were new

they got worse and so did blurriness and sticky feeling in eyes.

they have really been bugging me so i thought i should get them checked-when i called for appt the lady insisted i come in today. she said it could be something really bad. when i googled black floaters an blurrines uveitis came up.

so theis doc says i have dry eyes-not ealbad dry eyes either -app the other opthals have said they were real bad

and he says the vitreous stuff is braking off and floating around and as long as it doesn't mmake my retina detach i'm ok-notheing to do for it-just deal with seeing blurry and problems at night...unless i want a corneal transplant.

he says here is scarring on thecornea from an injury or infection in the past

i feel like my eyes are gonna blow up or something and i can't do anything to prevent it

does anyone know if i should see if i can get a 2 nd opiion paid for and go to the LL one. i am close to her.

i've been so confused lately i just don't know if i should let this go or not

thanks.

ps-its really wierd he could dx what he did cuz i drove home and it was 2 hrs ago he gave me those drops that make you not see and i can see to type here...it just seem wierd to me

he said he understood lyme and the eye problems and he said my optic nerve looked fine

It's hard to say, really. I've had all kinds of visual issues with lyme, both before and after starting tx.

I have seen a number of opthamologists, including a LL one, and honestly, the LL one didn't tell me anything the others didn't.

He basically said my eyes themselves were fine and that my issues were definitely lyme related, but he really didn't know what to do about it since the problem was more in the pathway between my eyes and my brain.

I don't know what to tell you. IF you are still worried then make the second appointment.

Eyes are pretty important!

Yes, I have big black floaters, tiny clusters of floaters that look like they're glowing (different than the light flashes I have) and big squiggly floaters.

Big, black floaters were one of my first symptoms. I only have them in my right eye (there was a time when I had them in both). I went to my non-LL optometrist who said everything was a-ok.....whatever.

All I know is that I NEVER had floaters before, I get sick, and then these huge things are floating around in my eyes. I just think something has to be wrong with that. Sadly, I've heard many on here say that even after treatment, they don't go away.

mine clearly said they were parts of the vitreous fluid(sp) breking off cuz i was geting old. he said it would be a detatched retina if they took some of the retina with them when they broke off.

i didn';t like this guy. he ws a robot wanting to make $ with surgeries

I have had floaters for several years now, they seem to appear more often and larger than ever before. Eye doc. say's my eyes are just aging - it's normal. Whatev.

But this leads me to another question . . . I'm wondering if anyone experiences a sharp stabbing pain behind the eye or feeling as though your eye ball is swollen?

I just went to the eye doc too for scratchy eyes that were so painful all night long. I have always had huge floaters in my eyes but now my one eye is always blurry.

He said the problems were from the abx that are drying up my eyes and gave me over counter drops to use and a gel at night to keep them moist.

He said floaters will move around and switch areas in the eyes and they are not a problem, we all have them. IF they are of great annoyance they can laser them for you.

I went to a LL opth... but got nothing more than from non LL. Basically the specialists cannot help with anything but describing the problem. If these are lyme related, then only lyme treatment (or coinfection treatment) will help.

My floaters were the typical ones until I had a big flash in one eye during the night. Next morning this black blob was floating in my eye. Was told it was a vitreous separation. Nothing could be done about it. Should watch for retina detachment. That was about ten years ago, no retina detached yet.

But lyme has caused people to go blind, so this told me I could not be off treatment for any length of time because of the possible consequences.

Dry eyes pretty common. Eyedrops can help. You want to get the ones without preservative, as I recall. Ask your eye guy which ones.

I actually just went to an eye doctor yesterday for a similar issue - but mine only come on in the middle of the night and when I look at a white wall. I see these big black spots. They don;t move and eventually fade away.

The Opt. said possible an occular migraine and that my eyes are in tip top shape. Yeah, okay occular migraines in the middle of the night.

I guess I don;t know what a LL Opt. would do different if there is nothing wrong with my eyes.

I believe it is part of lyme and/or co. and does seem to get worse if I stop tx and get better when I start up again.

I go to a Lyme Literate neuro optho. I've had floaters for most of my life but they get worse and better since I've been in treatment.

I also have a severe dry eye problem.

My dr. says the floaters give you an increased change of the detached retina - which is what your dr. said also. I see my guy about twice a year.

I've had punctal plugs for my dry eyes and also use a product called "Systane Ultra" - OTC eye drops. It works great and I highly recommend it. It was recommended by my neuro/optho.

It's the cheapest at Costco.
