I am highly allergic to sulfa drugs but had no problems taking Rifampin. It was a great med for me.
Rifampin can decrease certain thyroid meds though, so if you are taking them check for interactions. I found out the hard way.

No, it's not a sulpha drug.
It decreases the effectiveness of all meds, not just thyroid meds.
