Even though the tests are not 100%, I test any ticks I find.

Does your daughter have Lyme now? I think calling your Lyme doctor is a good idea.

Remember not all ticks are infected. I hope the one that was on your daughter is not.

From now on I'm definitely sending in any ticks that I find on myself. It's definitely worth it, and it's inexpensive.

If your daughter starts getting sick later (GOD FORBID!!) then at least you'll know if the tick had Lyme or not. Plus that prevents any quack doctors (CDC/IDSA) from saying that it's all in your daughter's head.

I thought about this for years. I can put my money to better use than testing some tick that was carrying maybe as many as 100 different bacteria, virus and protoza (parasites).

No lab is going to test a tick for all that. So just keep the money from tick testing and assume the worse case....get prepared to treat.

If a so called simple lyme bacteria is all you get from a tick, you are blessed. But I got the feeling it's never just a simple lyme bacteria.

Save the dead tick as evidence. Take a picture of the bite. Get your child to a doctor that has a clue how serious this can become.

My nephew had a tick behind his ear (he's 12). It was tested and positive for Lyme infections. He did not have a bullseye rash just a tiny scab.

His doctor put him on antibiotics for a couple weeks. I would definately get it tested regardless of how accurate the tests are.

Don't take any chances with this disease.

What about the other 99 nasty things that tick can be carrying. Abx for couple of weeks?

Wow I'm worried about this young man's future with a couple weeks of abx?

This is not a simple illness or threat of simple. It can be a living nightmare. I know what I'm going to do when it comes to a child.

Ididn't get this awful illness for me to sit back and pray that people will ok like your posts indicates.

So the tick tested positive for lyme, has the boy been treated for the other TBI accomodiate.

I had IGX test a tick for me about 7 yrs ago .. came back negative .. Before I got the test results back I was sick. Thankfully, I got on abx from Day 1.

Do not think you are safe if the test comes back negative.
