Does anyone else have this problem? Ever since I started having symptoms (since may) I have been having swelling in hands and feet.

My GP put me on a diuretic and told me he didn't know what the problem was. Didn't seem to care either [cussing]

Well, the medicine helped for awhile but doesn't seem to be working anymore. My clothes just keep getting tighter meanwhile the swelling it also getting worse in my extremities.

I woke up this am and my face looked like I gained 20 lbs overnight! it did go away after awhile. Also when the rx was working I would lose like 5-7 lbs in a day!

Does anyone else have this? Is it related to lyme or a co infection?

I go see an llmd aug 18th. Can't be too soon for me! Thanks for any help.

I have problems with my ankles. I have tried a diuretic, but does not help. Not sure if it could be lymph edema. I will ask my LLMD when I see him again. I have wondered about this too.

I read in Dr. S' book that swelling that does not dent - edema will dent - is caused from bartonella. I had it on the outsides of my ankles. I still have a little left on one leg. It is a lump.

But swelling in your face could be something else like low thyroid.
The swelling I had never goes away. It is not something that increases and decreases like true edema.

I also read that ehrlichia causes swelling in the hind legs of dogs. I have ehrlichia so maybe that is it -

I've had edema (non-pitting which means it does not dent) for years. I have lyme, bartonella and babesia. I have episodic edema and it causes every part of my body to swell including my face.

Many ppl get rid of it when they are treated for lyme and co-infections. I'm still waiting for mine to go but I have been sick for many decades so I'm not sure it will ever go.

Edema can be caused by other things including congestive heart failure. Female hormone imbalance can cause edema such as estrogen/progesterone issues. As already mentioned, thyroid oriblems can cause edema.

also
angioedema
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000846.htm

you may also want to consider heriditary angioedema.
