Try it with fresh squeezed lemons, too. It is like a soda. Add a little stevia.

We buy boxes and boxes of it through Amazon.

Active Ingredients: Each tablet contains:: Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda) (958 mg (Heat Treated)), Citric Acid (832mg), Potassium Bicarbonate (312 mg)

Inactive Ingredients: Magnesium Stearate, Mannitol

I wonder if taking a spoonful of baking soda, which is sodium bicarbonate, would do the same thing.

This changes the acidity of the blood.

I wonder if the mannitol would feed the candida. I don't think there's enough in there to cause any harm, but I've wondered about this before.

When you say it helps a flare, what kind of symptoms do you mean? Stomach issues? Brain fog? I am very interested...

Does it help joint pains? I heard about using baking soda with Epsom in a bath...but not the pop pop fizz fizz. What's in the gold that is not in the regular?

You have to only use Alka Seltzer Gold--not other kinds of Alka Seltzer--because the other ones have ingredients you don't want. (Maybe aspirin?)

Does it interact with any of the other standard meds? I am very interested, since I am having a lovely, achy, herx today. Can I take it with minocycline?

Supergirl, thank you for bringing this up as a good reminder!

CVS also carries it.

My doctor advises to use it only when herxing and for no more than a few days.

good questions. I will email my doc and get more details. so far, he just said take when flares or herxing but 2 hours away from abx. He did not say anything about limiting number of days. Just took for brain fog...I'll let you know if it works for that, too!

so cool, huh? something so darn cheap

I plop ours into fresh squeezed lemon juice with water and add a bit of stevia. It is almost like having a soda. Tastes great and so refreshing. Works the herx, too.

What exactly does it do?

It's not like an antacid, right?

Alka Seltzer gold is very high in vitamin C and Sodium Bicarbonate. The vitamin C is good and while the sodium bicarbonate may help you I'd be cautious about how often I used it.

Using it often will kill off your natural stomach acid to the point where you body won't produce enough naturally, which is not a good thing. That's what Alka seltzer is designed to do-- relive indigestion and reduce stomach acid.

If lemon juice or powdered vitamin C in water works as well, I'd stick to that. And yes, what it's doing is changing your PH.

Ok here is my experience. Last week I was herxing in the worse way and was desperate to try something.

1. It made me burp (sorry TMI!) and that did make me feel less nauseous... but it was short lived.

2. It gave me the worse stomach pains ever! Like someone punched me HARD in the middle of the my stomach.

But that was after one dose, so I figured I should try again just to be sure. Same thing except this time the pain from the stomach spread up to my throat!! I thought I was getting a sore throat!

Still I gave it one more shot the following day (I said I was herxing and desperate didn't I?) and this time same thing happened. Pain from my throat down to my stomach except this time spread to my left arm!!

So what gives?? I was only doing 1 tab (NOT 2 as recommended). I added 1/2 organic lemon. Took it w/ a straw. I was sooo desperate for it to work but no such luck!! Bummer!! [Frown]

Don't use it if you are sensitive to corn or citric acid/mold.
