I've never had any but since I started treatment in January I do. I feel compelled to shut my eyes really tight and then open them really wide many times in a row. I sniff and snort and make weird mouth movements.
But my brother has Asperger's and he has done all this since he was a very young child. I don't feel like I have a 'hint' of Asperger's because I've never been like this until now. Plus my social skills are great, and I know a whole lot about Asperger's because I'm a special ed teacher with a specialty in Autism. So I know that I don't have it because I know how they are.
So could it be the Lyme? It's very hard to control.

Definitely - neurological Lyme can cause tics. I've had eye rolling, mouth twitches, winks, nose scrunch etc. Usually, I kind of know I am going to do it somehow and it feels like it is relieving some sort of muscle tension (very subtle feeling).
Do you have any other symptoms? I think there are other neurological disorders which cause tics.

Yes absolutely Lyme related. I got infected at the age of 12, and I started having facial tics soon after. I know exactly what you mean. They are almost impossible to stop and I remember being worried that kids would see me doing funny things with my face in school.
I have much less of this now, and I don't even think anyone would notice so maybe they're even gone...

I use to have a tic in one of my eyes. Try magnesium supplements.

Racer- I have a zillion lyme symptoms, probably 90% of the known symptoms. The most severe symptoms are neurological and psychiatric.
The weird thing though is that I've had lyme since 2000, when I remember having the EM rash and having no clue what it was. I just got diagnosed and started treatment in January and now I have the tics.
Although I have had the compulsive urge to clear my throat for years, so maybe the lyme die-off and the resulting inflammation is just making tics exponentially worse.
I don't know....hopefully they'll go away once I'm a lot better.

Lyme Disease causes magnesium deficiency, as the bacteria use up the magnesium in our muscle and nerve cells.

My son also had bad facial tics (hard blinking, mouth stretching, nose scrunching, throat clearing, eye rolling, wincing, and a shoulder shrug).
Magnesium did help a little - but didn't stop them.
I know of others that magnesium made a huge difference for.
Mycoplasma & strep can also cause tics.
