would it to be better to get a used wheelchair - but then you run the risk of perfume or smoke or who knows what being embedded into it.

or do u get a new one? how do you make the wheelchair mcs safe.

i am very chemicalls senstive (react to essentail oils to) and nothing new can come in the house much less be next to me.

is there anyway to make it do able?

The frame of the wheelchair is almost always metal. The seats can be made of plastic, leather, or fabric (sturdy nylon looking material).

You might have to talk with some medical supply companies to see what is available and come up with a custom order.

You could also try renting different types of wheel chairs to see what might work best for you.

Another thought, if you can't find a wheelchair made of safe materials you could try getting a wool cover for the arm rests and seat. That might help dampen the chemical smells and keep your skin from coming in contact with any irritating products.

i am actually allergic to wool.

i am in too much pain to sit . but i cant walk far enough to get from car to drs office. thats all i need it for. drs office visits. i dont need a really good model if that makes a difference

You wash the leather, vinyl, etc. with baking soda several times, because it will absorb the odors. Also, air it outside if possible in sun, as heat will "bake" out the smell. I would keep it on a porch, etc. to let it outgas. You could also wrap it in aluminum foil to cut the smell back.

This I learned from an alternative practice dealing with mcs.
